Florida Keys Holidays 2023 & 2024

Where to stay & things to do in
Florida Keys Holidays 2023 & 2024

  • The Florida Keys are the southernmost and the most remote islands of the continental United States. A chain of tropical islands known for their beautiful beaches, unique flora and fauna, historic sites and many opportunities to experience the wonders of nature. You can make your time in the Florida Keys as relaxing or action-packed as you desire.

  • A Florida Keys vacation is always an adventure, but it’s undeniably fun for those who like the beach, wildlife and warm weather. The Keys have everything from fishing charters to sailing trips available for visitors.

Start with a tour of Key West, then take a day-boat trip to see manatees in Islamorada and end with a snorkelling excursion off Key Largo.

The Key West Aquarium houses some of the most diverse species of marine life and underwater animals that swim in the state's reefs and waters.

A thriving artistic community has also been living in the Keys for many years. Ernest Hemingway called it home, and his house still stands today – a testament to his legacy and popularity among the islanders. If you’re a fan of one of the greatest American writers ever to have lived (and even if you’re not), it’s definitely worth visiting.

    Getting Around

Driving the Overseas Highway is one of the best ways to experience the Florida Keys and what better way to get around than renting a car? Rental cars are practical and cost-effective, and not only do they offer you greater freedom and allow you to stop off on your way if there is somewhere that particularly interests you. The views of the highway in front of you, surrounded by nothing but water, are spectacular, and you’ll feel like you’re in a movie. Don't worry if you don't have access to a car. There are plenty of other ways to get around, including; cycling, taxis, pedicabs, mopeds and city buses.

  • The Florida Keys is a popular tourist destination that attracts people from all over the world. It has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world as well as some of the best cuisine. On any given day, you can find anything from seafood platters at happy hour to vegetarian dishes at lunchtime and fried chicken at dinner. The food in the Florida Keys is influenced by different cultures, which makes it somewhat unique. The most famous food items include conch fritters, key lime pie and Key West pink shrimp. The dish called "catch of the day" is also a favourite among tourists as well as locals.

  • Although the Sunshine State is known for its blazing hot heat and humidity, temperatures are surprisingly pleasant during the spring and fall. From June through October, highs average between 30°C during the day and around 20°C at night. The warm temperatures and beautiful weather make this city a dream destination for those seeking sun, sand and sea.

Winters can be very mild or downright chilly, depending on where on the island you are staying.
