A Florida Keys vacation is always an adventure, but it’s undeniably fun for those who like the beach, wildlife and warm weather. The Keys have everything from fishing charters to sailing trips available for visitors.
Start with a tour of Key West, then take a day-boat trip to see manatees in Islamorada and end with a snorkelling excursion off Key Largo.
The Key West Aquarium houses some of the most diverse species of marine life and underwater animals that swim in the state's reefs and waters.
A thriving artistic community has also been living in the Keys for many years. Ernest Hemingway called it home, and his house still stands today – a testament to his legacy and popularity among the islanders. If you’re a fan of one of the greatest American writers ever to have lived (and even if you’re not), it’s definitely worth visiting.
Getting Around
Driving the Overseas Highway is one of the best ways to experience the Florida Keys and what better way to get around than renting a car? Rental cars are practical and cost-effective, and not only do they offer you greater freedom and allow you to stop off on your way if there is somewhere that particularly interests you. The views of the highway in front of you, surrounded by nothing but water, are spectacular, and you’ll feel like you’re in a movie. Don't worry if you don't have access to a car. There are plenty of other ways to get around, including; cycling, taxis, pedicabs, mopeds and city buses.
