Texas is the place for you if you’re looking for a vacation that’s jam-packed with excitement and adventure. There are many things to do here, from visiting historical landmarks to watching sports and enjoying nature. Texas is also home to a number of theme parks, including Six Flags Over Texas. Although not as big as California and Orlando‘s theme parks, Six Flags is the biggest theme park in Texas, spanning over 212 acres of family fun.

The iconic Alamo was built in 1718 and served as a Spanish military outpost until American troops overtook it in 1836 during the Texas Revolution. Today, it's home to a museum dedicated to telling the story of those brave soldiers who fought to keep Texas a part of Mexico.
If museums are your thing, you'll want to visit The Battleship Texas, also known as BB-35. This battleship was commissioned into service in 1912 and saw action during both World Wars. In 1948, it was decommissioned, but today you can tour the ship at San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site or visit its permanent home at San Jacinto Memorial Park near Houston.
Fancy a festival this fall? Every October, Austin hosts the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which draws thousands of people worldwide. It features top performers across genres like country music and indie rock. The festival also offers food trucks, art vendors, and more.
Getting Around
The best way to get around Texas is by public transport. The buses and trains run on time and are incredibly clean, so taking your time and enjoying the scenery as you go is easy. You can also rent a car if you prefer to explore on your own. If you're looking for some adventure, then there's no better place than the Lone Star State. You can go climbing, hiking and camping in one of the many state parks. There are also plenty of water sports to choose from, including swimming, fishing and boating.

Once you've tried Texas food, you'll be hooked. They don't hold back when it comes to cooking up something delicious. The state's food scene is as diverse as its landscape and climate. You'll find a variety of different cuisines, from Tex-Mex to Cajun. From tacos and quesadillas to chilli con carne and the famous all-American chicken fried steak, you're sure to find something that fits your taste buds perfectly.

Texas gets hot in the summer and cold in the winterβso it's not like most states where you can expect a consistent temperature year-round! During the summer months (June through September), you'll want to be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen along with you so that you don't get burned while exploring this great state. In addition, during wintertime (December through February), you'll want to pack warm clothes so that you can stay warm while visiting all our snowy attractions like Ski Apache Resort or Ski Apache Ski Resort (which are both located near Ruidoso).
