Absolutely no complaints. We hadn't been here before, and ended up staying a whole month. Good people, food is really good in the restaurant & pub. Loved the gated community, never worried about stuff being stolen or any shady neighbors, ended up going to Bakersfield for a few days, everything was as we left it. 👍 There's a nice laundry mat, pool but unfortunately we never tried the pool. Great place to stay if you enjoy aircraft, there's a lot of aircraft flying out of that military airport such as F-16, F-35, A-10 Warthogs, C-130, Thunderbirds, and even what looked like some sort of high altitude bombers...great entertainment, but can be noisy during the day, night time was quiet.
This review pertains to the RV park, a sweet, old-school spot up at the north end of the strip close to the Nellis AFB front gate. The facility is gated and they issue keycards for the showers and a gate-opener to drive into the park. There is a pool, GREAT showers with benches and hooks for everything. The site we were assigned had only 50A service so be sure if you have a smaller rig to carry your adapter for 30A. We always carry ours. There is a really friendly bar, lots of regulars in and out, they issue you a coupon at check-in for a free cocktail after you buy your first. We didn’t make use of that when we arrived but we did wander over after a quiet night’s sleep for breakfast next morning. Really good, cooked to order and reasonably priced. We ate at the bar and chatted up the bartender and a few regulars. There is no corporate cheese at this park. It is family-run for generations, friendly, and a convenient and fun stop if you are passing through or staying awhile. I loved the vibe of the place and will stop there again.
I've never rented one of their rooms because I rent a space for my RV. I've been here for a year. They have a great saltwater pool open all year long, beautiful laundry facilities and are reasonably priced. We love our little spot here at the hitchin post and I'm sure you will too!
This place is great. It's clean, has a nice pool. The laundry room was great. But I have to say Leslie was one of the best hosts I've seen in a long time. Even though she was having a bad day that day. With the all the things going wrong and the park losing power. She was still in good spirits and had a smile on her face. I've managed shops and I know first hand how hard it is to find employees like her. She deserves a raise in my opinion. I will recommend this place to all my friends. Thanks Leslie, you were super awesome!
I need to give this place extra stars. Is there a cheat code to add double the stars? I left a different park in September of 2022, before the month I'd paid to stay had expired, due to that park being basically an overcrowded parking lot with creepers that would follow ladies into the laundry room and try to hit on us until things approached scary (it wasn't just me, and it wasn't just once). I'd previously stayed at a KOA that was decent, and a fancier RV "Resort" that was bougie in the front and average in the back. The fancy Resort only rented daily during the fall and winter (although they were quite reasonable in the "human-bacon" heat of the summer, which would've more than quadrupled the cost. So I searched Good Sam and found TheHithchin' Post. No online booking, which concerned me a little, mainly because I don't like people-ing. No confirmation number or deposit required to book by phone...also off-putting, but the lady I spoke to said that I was on the roster & my spot would be held for me. I know, you're probably wondering if this is really going to be a positive review with the way it's starting...this next part won't clear the confusion, but stay with me for the whole ride... The place has an older neon "MOTEL" sign, a dark brown wood (windowless) saloon, and original single floor motel, as well as an attached mobile home park and trailer supply/sales/service store next door. The appearance is very vintage, and for some reason the combination of the neon sign & early 20th century vintage vibe gave me a certain Bates Motel/diabolical clown ambiance. I seriously wondered if I hadn't just jumped from the fying pan into the crematorium. Joke was 100% on me. The office folks could not be more helpful, informative and neighborly. I'm not sure it's even possible. Mike's like that one cousin who always had a laugh ready & would help you fix your bike as a kid, Leslie & JJ are like your two gal-pals that may not always like everyone, but nobody else could say anything bad about people in their park, because residents are part of "our neighborhood" upon arrival. But I didn't know all of that when I arrived, and I'd booked for the full month of September, still wary from the laundry-creeper-park. NOTE: bring PAPER copies of BOTH your vehicle/RV registration AND insurance. I misunderstood & only had one in paper form, but fortunately had a printer in my RV because I lived and worked remotely from the rig. They need both in paper form, it's the rules, and the staff didn't make them but also have to follow them. Yeah...wait...a cool office group does not an awesome park make, right? If that was the only perk, I wouldn't be writing this review. So, they directed me to turn the RV around (they have multiple RV-friendly enty/exit points to do so), gave me my gate-open remote & access key card for the pedestrian gate, workout room & locker room, and lots of other move in little extras (the map included a free drink coupon at the saloon/steakhouse), and I was on my way down an evergreen-tree hedge road to a surprisingly hidden gated park. I didn't even notice it was the entry upon arrival, because the hedges also divided the trailer parts store on one side, and the hotel on the other, with dumpsters subtly tucked in & a gate at the end that led to a what appeared to be a nondescript office or apartment. The park itself is hidden in plain sight. The spaces are HUGE by city standards. I fit rental cars in my space with the RV with plenty of room to open the doors all the way - when the slide was out. It's all pebble-gravel, so leveling was a breeze, and the hookups were logically located and very easy to access & use. My space had both 30 & 50 amps, great water pressure, and free cable. The park has at least 4 WiFi channels, with very good signal strength & speed (critical to those of us working remotely), and salt water filtration pool, and hands down the best laundry room of any park I've been to in my 3 years living on the road. I ended up staying much longer than planned, it's a hidden gem.
