Arrow C Campsite provides a "pretty typical" primitive camping experience, which for many means a welcome departure from modern conveniences and a deeper connection with nature. Reviews indicate a focus on essential amenities, such as "running water" and a "decent primitive latrine," with a convenient "bath house" just a short walk away. While not equipped with power or readily available firewood, these aspects encourage self-reliance and a true embrace of traditional camping skills. As part of the larger Kerr Scout Ranch, Arrow C benefits from the expansive natural setting and the ethos of outdoor education and exploration. It's an ideal spot for scout troops, youth groups, and families looking for a structured yet rustic environment to learn, grow, and create lasting memories in the heart of Oklahoma's beautiful landscape.

Location and Accessibility

Arrow C Campsite is located within the expansive Kerr Scout Ranch, which has a general address in Tishomingo, OK 73460, USA. Tishomingo is the county seat of Johnston County in southern Oklahoma, known for its natural beauty and proximity to various outdoor recreational areas, including the Blue River and Lake Texoma.

Access to Kerr Scout Ranch, and consequently to Arrow C Campsite, typically involves navigating well-maintained state and county roads leading to the specific entrance of the ranch. While the campsite itself is within a large, natural property, the main entrance to Kerr Scout Ranch would be clearly marked. For instance, the ranch is often accessed via routes off of Oklahoma State Highway 7 or U.S. Route 377, which connect Tishomingo to other parts of Oklahoma. These roads are generally suitable for vehicles towing trailers or smaller RVs, though visitors should always consult ranch-specific directions prior to arrival.

The location offers a balance of secluded outdoor immersion and practical accessibility. While Arrow C provides a rustic camping experience within the wilderness of the scout ranch, the town of Tishomingo is a relatively short drive away. Tishomingo offers essential services such as gas stations, small grocery stores, and local dining options, ensuring that campers can resupply or address needs without extensive travel. This blend of natural isolation and convenient access to town amenities makes Arrow C Campsite an ideal and functional base for camping adventures in southern Oklahoma.

Services Offered

Arrow C Campsite, as part of the Kerr Scout Ranch, focuses on providing fundamental services that support a primitive and educational outdoor experience. While it emphasizes self-reliance, certain essential amenities are available to ensure a comfortable and functional camping stay:

  • Designated Primitive Campsites: The core offering is specific camping areas suitable for tents, providing a clear spot for setting up camp within the natural environment. These sites are "pretty typical" of a scout camp, meaning basic and intended for self-sufficient camping.
  • Running Water: A significant convenience for primitive camping, Arrow C provides access to running water, essential for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.
  • Primitive Latrine: The campsite is equipped with a "decent primitive latrine," offering basic toilet facilities for campers.
  • Bath House Access: While not directly at the campsite, a bath house with more extensive facilities (likely showers and flush toilets) is located a "short 100-yard walk away," providing a valuable amenity for cleanliness and comfort.
  • Natural Environment: The primary "service" is the opportunity to camp within a natural, expansive setting, fostering a connection with the outdoors.
  • Trail Access (Implied): As part of a scout ranch, access to hiking trails and areas for outdoor activities within the ranch is highly probable, encouraging exploration.
  • Structured Environment (for groups): For scout troops and organized groups, the campsite provides a structured setting within a larger ranch context, often with resources for outdoor education and activities.

It is important to note that the campsite does not offer power at the sites ("no power") and firewood is not readily available nearby ("no firewood close by"). Campers should plan accordingly, bringing their own power sources if needed and sourcing firewood before arrival or considering alternative cooking methods. The focus is on embracing a less amenity-rich, more traditional camping approach.

This is a camp site on the Kerr Scout Ranch. We were up for a week over the summer. The camp site is pretty typical...no firewood close by and no power. It does have a decent primitive latrine and running water, and the bath house is a short 100 yard walk away.
