For Pennsylvanians who cherish the true spirit of camping—the quiet nights, the sound of flowing water, and genuine hospitality—Brandywine Creek Campground in Downingtown, PA, is a delightful step back in time. Nestled along the beautiful banks of the East Brandywine Creek, this RV park offers a refreshing, authentic experience far removed from the overly commercialized, expensive resorts that dominate the modern camping landscape. It is a well-loved, small, and beautifully maintained destination that serves as a tranquil base for exploring the historical and natural wonders of Chester County and beyond.
This campground is proudly owner-operated, a difference that is immediately evident in the friendly, accommodating service and the high value offered to every guest. Patrons frequently highlight the “super quiet” environment and the exceptional cleanliness, noting that the park owners are always on-site and dedicated to maintaining a well-cared-for facility. It’s an ideal spot for locals looking for a seasonal retreat, a weekend getaway, or a peaceful extended stay while visiting family or working in the greater Philadelphia area.
Brandywine Creek Campground is strategically located at 1091 Creek Rd, Downingtown, PA 19335, USA. While the setting feels wonderfully remote and tranquil, it is, in fact, incredibly convenient for local travel and exploration throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.
The park is one of the closest full-service RV campgrounds to Historic Philadelphia, situated approximately 32 miles away, with regional rail service available nearby for an easy, stress-free day trip to the city's urban attractions. It is also remarkably close to other iconic Pennsylvania destinations, including Valley Forge National Historical Park (about 21 miles), the renowned Longwood Gardens, and the charming Amish countryside of Lancaster County (about 45 minutes away).
It is important for local RVers to note the nature of the final approach to the park. As mentioned by previous guests, the last half-mile of the road into the campground is “quite narrow and some tight curves.” While large rigs successfully navigate this section, and the road is generally not busy, drivers with new or extra-large rigs should be aware and approach with caution, ultimately finding the quiet, picturesque destination well worth the careful drive. The campground's proximity to Marsh Creek State Park further enhances its appeal, offering immediate access to a vast network of hiking and biking trails, a 500-acre lake for boating, and excellent fishing.
Brandywine Creek Campground ensures a comfortable and hassle-free stay by focusing on essential, well-maintained services that meet the needs of all RV and tent campers.
Full Hookup RV Sites: Most sites are equipped with water, sewer, and electric (30/50 Amp) hookups for maximum convenience, accommodating rigs up to 40 feet or more, with both back-in and pull-through options available.
Clean Bathhouse and Laundry Facilities: A centrally located bathhouse provides individual restroom/shower rooms—each containing a sink, toilet, and shower—that are noted for their cleanliness. The facility also includes a pay laundry room with washing machines and dryers.
Proprietor-Run Sales: The owners sell high-quality, generously portioned firewood for a great value, ensuring campers can easily enjoy a classic campfire without leaving the premises.
Pet-Friendly Environment: The campground warmly welcomes furry companions, allowing Pennsylvania locals to bring their whole family, four-legged members included.
Essential Utility Access: Basic WiFi and cable TV access are available, and campers report good cellular coverage (T-Mobile 5G, Verizon LTE, AT&T LTE) for those needing to stay connected.
This RV park’s true appeal lies in its commitment to a simple, traditional camping experience, emphasizing natural amenities over costly manufactured attractions.
Natural Water Features: The campground is situated directly on the trout-stocked East Brandywine Creek and includes a separate, beautiful fishing pond for catch-and-release fun, offering kids and adults a great place to fish and play.
Swimming Pool Access: A nice-sized, well-maintained swimming pool provides a perfect spot for cooling off and relaxation during the summer months.
Genuine, Quiet Atmosphere: A major highlight is the tranquil environment, which residents describe as “super quiet.” This provides a peaceful sanctuary away from the noise and crowds of the city and large commercial parks.
Focus on Value Over Expense: Campers appreciate the absence of corporate bureaucracy, minimal contracts, and "no nickel and diming," considering it a "real value" and a throwback to how camping used to be.
Large, Open Spaces: In addition to good-sized, shaded RV sites with picnic tables and fire rings, the park offers large, wide-open green spaces where children can play and families can relax, enhancing the outdoor experience.

Great little campground. Super quiet. Always clean and tidy. We were so happy to be able to spend the summer there as we helped our daughter navigate her new adult life in Philadelphia. Close to everything. Bathhouse with 2 washing machines and dryers. Thank you!
Aug 21, 2025 · Isabelle HarpeyWhat a pleasure it was spending Memorial Weekend with the folks at this campground. This place is what camping used to be like before the corporations started buying up sites and turning them into expensive resorts. Before I get to what these folks had, lets review what they didnt have. NO multi page legal and hold harmless contracts to sign. NO nickel and diming. NO Friday night golf cart drunk parades. Matter of fact considering the small size of this place, not sure why you would even need one. What they have is a QUIET, beautiful, well taken care of small campground, with owners onsite that were as friendly and accommodating as they could be. I consider this place a real value that you dont see in the corporate parks these days. This place does not have a water park, splash pad, jumping pillows, or mini golf. What it has is a beautiful pond and creek for the kids to play in, a nice size pool, and clean bathrooms, good size sites, and large wide open spaces. What else could you ask for?? We were in site 44, right behind the bathrooms, facing the stream Plenty of room for my 36 foot 5th wheel and a couple of cars. I did need 3 sections of sewer hose, but I always carry 4 just in case. We bought wood from these folks for a fire Sunday night, and what a value, 10 bucks for 2 BIG bags of wood that actually burned for close to 5 hours. What a value! We were in town for our grand daughters soccer tournament, and this was the closest campground. We had such a good time we are looking for another reason to go back.. Now on the somewhat challenging side, the last 1/2 mile of road into this place was quite narrow and some tight curves, but the road is not that busy and I had no issues with my rig. Not sure I would pick this place if you had a brand new big rig that you were driving for the first time, but in the end was well worth the drive. We camped at Brandywine Creek Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
May 27, 2025 · Al RudeWe camped for 2 weeks. Very peaceful. There is some road traffic during day & early evening, but during sleeping hours it was super quite.
Jun 03, 2025 · Michael ShafferSmall, quiet, creek side, pretty backdrop for nice location. We were not looking for a destination campground. We wanted a quaint, easy in easy out campground to satellite from for nearby activities and close proximity for a variety of fishing opportunities. This is it! The manager is friendly and asked several times if we needed anything. He delivered firewood for us and was just simply cordial and welcoming. Will definitely repeat the stay!
Oct 14, 2024 · Todd LeeWe stayed at Brandywine Creek Campground in Downington PA for a month. It was totally relaxing, quiet and scenic. Sites 52 & 53 are set up facing each other - perfect for family gatherings. I've never seen that before. Cool. The nearby area is awesome - a combination of historic and modern. Close to numerous restaurants, shopping & attractions. We enjoyed our stay VERY MUCH! No regrets.
