We stayed in the Ranch house with another couple and it worked out great. We hauled horses down, the stalls are really nice and close to the house. The Bar was awesome and having them guide you on the trails is the way to go!!
My husband and I had a great trail ride with the owner, Lisa. The horses were well cared for and fun to ride. Beautiful forest trails opened into a meadow filled with white wildflowers and a herd of wild horses in the distance. It was magical. Our ride was everything we hoped for.
Old Desperado Ranch is a great place for trail riders and non-trail riders. My friends and I stayed for four days with our horses. We were perfectly situated near all of the trails. The cabin had everything you could possibly need . It even had a little basket with snacks and coffee. Bedding was provided ,along with pillows. We slept so well in this little woodland cabin. The horse stalls were perfect! They were large enough for our horses to lay down. Bring bedding and buckets. The stalls were also designed so that they are open and not claustrophobic for the horses. Each stall had a corner hay feeder. There were even lights above each stall! The stalls are close enough to the cabin that you can easily check on the horses by just looking off of the deck. There was also a hose bib nearby to water the horses easily. Everything was set up for convenience. Outside there was plenty of outdoor seating on the screened in porch, deck and fire pit. There was even a swing set of you have children with you! If you needed any supplies for your horses JL tack had hay, bedding and any tack you could ever need. The drive into town was only a few minutes. Also there were great places to eat in town such as the Dairy Shack and Dos Rios . Lisa the hostess was so easy to work with. I She is a great hostess and horsewoman. We were allowed to check in early on the day of our arrival. Lisa is extremely knowledgeable about all of the trails in the area. We ride 22 miles with her through rivers,up hills, cliff edges and everywhere in between . We were even lucky enough to see an elk!If you are wanting to get an amazing ride through Eminence schedule a ride with Lisa , it will be the ride of your life! There is also a small turnout pen for your horses as well. It is nice and shaded with forage. I will be coming back for sure! Everything about this place is quiet seclusion and nature. I recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in the woods with or without horses.
Tiny cabin was perfect. Lisa (host) helped us locate two herds of wild horses, hiking trails, and beautiful waterfalls. Never knew there was such beauty in this area.
We had an amazing experience at Old Desperado Ranch. Lisa our guide, who is also the owner, took my daughter and I on a 2 hr ride on very short notice. She was very knowledgeable, kept us safe on the trail while making sure we enjoyed our experience. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this ranch to anyone looking for a great trail riding experience.
