Location and Accessibility

Texan RV Park is strategically located at 9024 US-175, Athens, TX 75751, USA. Its position directly on US-175 ensures straightforward access for RVs traveling from various parts of Texas. Athens, a charming East Texas town, is a short drive away, offering access to essential services and amenities. While the park is described as being "out there" with "nothing right close by, except for a Sonic & gas station," this also means it offers a quieter environment away from the direct hustle and bustle of city centers.

For those attending the NRVTA course, the location is incredibly convenient, as the park is designed to serve this purpose primarily. Despite its somewhat isolated setting, essential stops for basic needs are within immediate reach. Furthermore, for pet owners and those who enjoy a stroll, the Athens Arboretum is noted as a "beautiful park" nearby where you can "walk your dogs." This provides a lovely natural escape just a short distance from the RV park, adding to the appeal for those seeking a tranquil outdoor experience.

Services Offered

Texan RV Park is equipped with a range of services designed to make longer stays comfortable and convenient for its residents. The park focuses on providing practical amenities that support daily living for its guests.

  • Spacious and Mostly Level RV Pads: The park offers well-sized RV sites with pads that are generally level, making setup easier. While some standard sites might not include picnic tables, grills, or fire pits (due to stated liability issues), pull-through sites may offer additional amenities.

  • Full Hookups: Each site provides full hookups, including 30/50 amp electric service, water, and sewer connections, ensuring all essential utilities are readily available for a comfortable stay.

  • Two Bark Park Areas: A significant highlight for pet owners, the park features two dedicated "bark park areas." While one might be prone to muddiness and the other has rocks, the provision of these spaces demonstrates a commitment to accommodating furry residents.

  • Community Center: The park boasts a "great community center," which likely serves as a gathering space for residents, potentially offering common areas for relaxation, socializing, or organized events.

  • Laundry Facilities: The park provides good laundry facilities, and notably, includes a "dog washing machine," a highly appreciated feature for pet owners to keep their companions clean.

  • On-Site Fishing Ponds: Guests can enjoy fishing from the ponds within the park. While one pond with ducks is described as "pretty to look at," and others might be dirty, the presence of fishing opportunities adds to the recreational options.

  • Package Delivery Service: The park offers a convenient text notification service for package arrivals, ensuring residents are promptly informed about their deliveries.

  • On-Site Food Trucks: Food trucks periodically visit the park "a couple times a week," offering convenient dining options for residents without needing to leave the premises.

Features / Highlights

Texan RV Park stands out for several key features that enhance the experience, particularly for its primary long-term and NRVTA-attending guests:

  • Exceptional Staff and Customer Service: This is arguably the "real gem" of Texan RV Park. Numerous reviews highlight the genuine friendliness, helpfulness, and willingness of the staff, from front desk to landscapers, to assist guests and accommodate their needs, even working with departure dates.

  • Dedicated to NRVTA Students: The park is "nicely equipped for a longer stay when you are going through the NRVTA course." This focus means amenities and services are tailored to the needs of these students, creating a supportive environment for their studies.

  • Pet-Friendly Amenities: The provision of two bark park areas and a specialized dog washing machine indicates a strong commitment to accommodating pets, making it a very welcoming environment for animal lovers.

  • Spacious Sites: While basic sites might lack some individual amenities, the general consensus is that the sites are "good sized" and "spacious," providing ample room for RVs.

  • Community Focus: The presence of a "great community center" and regular text updates about park happenings (especially school or RV park related) suggest an effort to foster a sense of community among residents.

  • On-Site Convenience: The availability of food trucks a couple of times a week and prompt package notifications add layers of convenience, reducing the need for frequent trips outside the park.

Promotions or Special Offers

Given its primary function for NRVTA students, Texan RV Park's pricing structure might be geared towards longer-term stays. While specific, publicly advertised "promotions" in the traditional sense might not be constantly available, potential guests, especially those considering extended visits, should inquire about:

  • Monthly Rates: For longer stays, competitive monthly rates are almost certainly available, offering significant savings compared to nightly or weekly bookings.

  • NRVTA Student Packages: Students attending the National RV Training Academy may have specific bundled rates or preferential booking arrangements directly through the school or in conjunction with the park.

  • Extended Stay Discounts: Beyond NRVTA students, anyone planning an extended stay (e.g., several weeks or months) should contact the park to discuss potential discounts or special rates.

It is always recommended to contact Texan RV Park directly to discuss your specific needs and inquire about the most suitable rates or any available offers for your planned duration of stay.

This RV park was really nicely equipped for a longer stay when you are going through the NRVTA course. Two bark park areas, beautiful landscaping, ponds that you can fish from, great community center, and the pads were mostly level and spacious. But the real gem was the staff! Always helpful and happy. From the front desk staff to the landscapers, they were genuine and polite always! They were willing to work with us on our departure date which saved us a lot of time and work to pack up. The location is out there but the Arboretum is nearby where you can walk your dogs and see a beautiful park.

The most boring 7 weeks of my life I can never get back. HOWEVER, my spouse really enjoyed the school and learned a lot. In many opinion the solar class was not worth $2000. It’s pretty much isolated, nothing right close by, except for a sonic & gas station. It’s one of the “nicer” rv parks in the area but that’s about it. The over priced rates you pay are really just for the convenience of the school being there. The sites are good sized but unless you’re in a “fancy”pull thru, there are no picnic tables (I was told a liability issue?), grills or fire pits. The ponds are pretty to look at, at least the one with the ducks is, the others are dirty with stuff in them. Good area to walk dogs, as long as it doesn’t rain. There are 2 small dog parks but one is pretty muddy all the time & the other has rocks all thru the middle of it. They need to fix their lighting in them, they’re very dark at night. The laundry is good, we liked they had a dog washing machine. There is NOTHING for children if you plan to bring them. We appreciated they worked with us when initially they put us in a site that was too small for our 44ft toy hauler. There internet is pretty useless & they use tengo so don’t plan on talking to them about it, they’ll just tell you to call them. They will text you if you have a package & also text you about what’s going on but it’s mostly school or rv park related. They have food trucks come a couple times a week, other than that there aren’t many planned activities. It’s not geared for spouses or partners by any means. We were there in the winter so not much going on in the little towns near by but honestly, don’t think there is period. You have your Walmart & basic stores & a few restaurants. It was a long 7 weeks and in our opinion they need to use some of the money they make from the school and the rv park to make it much, much better. All in all my spouse liked the school and teachers very much. Most of the staff were very friendly. The rv park definitely needs a lot of work and really need to amp up their amenities to justify the cost.

This is the most beautiful RV park with its lakes and prolific birdlife. We absolutely loved waking up every morning to the lake right outside our door. Our only complaint with the locale is the horrific road noise. Concerns were how long it took to get power back on after it was taken out by the storm ie. 12 hours! And that we had no internet for days. I don't know if this is normal for Texas but it's not like the campground is situated anywhere remote. We really appreciated being moved to a cabin that suited our needs far better, thank you for a great week and very pleasant stay!!

RV spot had enough room for our 33-foot 5th wheel, truck, and following car. Park has resident ducks and geese. Nice park to walk around the ponds. Busy mornings because of NRVTA students. 🎓 Laundry is clean and low priced. Food trucks throughout the week. One can hear the highway traffic but it's not horrible.
