  • Diverse Accommodation Options: The campground offers a variety of lodging, including sixty-nine large, shady RV sites with full hookups (20, 30, and 50 amp service), each equipped with picnic tables and fire pits. For those who prefer a more rustic experience, primitive tent camping is available in open grassy fields overlooking the pond, with access to fire rings, picnic tables, and water spigots. Additionally, they offer cozy camping cabins (with electricity but utilizing bathhouses) and new tiny home cabins, some of which are fully ADA compliant, providing a "glamping" experience with full kitchens and bathrooms.

  • Exceptional Bathhouses and Laundry Facilities: Guest reviews consistently highlight the outstanding quality of the bathhouses, often described as "as nice as those in our home" and "very clean." The laundry room is also noted as being "exceptional," ensuring a comfortable stay even for longer trips.

  • Dedicated High-Speed Wi-Fi: Buck Hill Campground provides a new dedicated fiber internet service, offering free high-speed Wi-Fi across the property. This ensures guests can stay connected, stream, and even make Wi-Fi calls, which is a valuable feature given that cell service can sometimes be spotty in remote mountain areas.

  • Propane Filling Station: For RVers, the convenience of an on-site propane filling station is a significant advantage, eliminating the need to search for off-site services.

  • Camp Store Essentials: Firewood bundles and bagged ice are readily available at the campground, ensuring that essential camping supplies are always within reach.

  • Pet-Friendly Policy: Buck Hill Campground is genuinely dog-friendly, recognizing that pets are part of the family. While specific fees or restrictions are best confirmed directly, the welcoming atmosphere for pets is a definite plus for animal lovers.

We stayed at this very nice campground in August 2024 and already have reservations to return in September. My wife and I have been camping for 42 years and this is our very favorite campground we have ever stayed in. We stayed on a campsite on the river that had a private deck overlooking the river. The seasonal residents we met were very friendly and welcomed us to join them in an evening of karaoke. The only complaint I have is that the tree shading our site was dropping acorns or nuts on the camper during the night, and each time it came with a bit of a bang overhead. Otherwise, I could not give this campground a higher rating. The bathrooms are as nice as those in our home and very clean. The laundry room was exceptional. And to make things even better, they offer a military discount for veterans.

Me and my son and his friend came up for 4 days before school started Monday. First time coming to buck hill campground this place is amazing. The people that are on permanent sites were so friendly and welcomed you in like family. The campground itself was so clean and well taken care of. The bathhouses were the nicest I have ever seen. The game room is very nice a lot of games to play. The fishing is fun in the pond or the river a lot to catch. They had a bunch of people singing and having fun every night at the club house. On to the owners. They go above and beyond for the campground and every camper there. They were down eating dinner with everyone and just hanging out and having fun. Very nice family. They even had movie night on Friday. The entire weekend was just amazing and can’t wait to go back. 10 stars in my opinion

Came up here for 3 days with my son and his friend before they start school. And it was amazing. Start with the property is very well taken care of and bathhouses that are newly redone. Great family owned business. And the entire family lives on property and they are all involved in the upkeep of this property. The site I had was amazing across from the bath house every night a bunch of the yearly members were hanging out and singing and having a great time. The video game room was awsome a lot of games to play. Then to the fishing nice size pond and we caught a good amount of fish. And still had the river to fish in and caught a ton there also. The owners spent a lot of time hanging out eating dinner and just having a good time with everyone. I give this place 50 stars. I already booked next July 4 there and will definitely be back before then. Much love to the the buck hill campground.

My family has nothing but positive things to say about Buck Hill Campground. The campus is clean, quiet, and friendly. The Caudles really take pride in their ownership and you can tell it is well reciprocated by the guests. We stayed in the premium cabin and it fit three generations (two kids and four adults) very nicely. Everything in the cabin was clean and in good working order. The camp ground felt very safe and everyone we interacted with was very friendly. My husband had a great time taking our two girls on a hike up to the top lookout point. He said it was pretty steep and difficult at times, but he said it was a wonderful life lesson for our 8 year old who said the view was well worth it. We have recommended it to our friends and hope to be back again in the future.

Great campground! Quiet, very clean, and the river is so nice. We wanted to stay in a campground that was not large and very crowded. Buck Hill was perfect. Hike to the top of Buck Hill- steep but worth the view. Trout fishing is good as well. The North Carolina Museum of Minerals in Spruce Pine is very interesting and no admission fee. We will make a return trip to Buck Hill.
