Jewell Lake Campground is situated at 1588-1644 W Trask Lake Rd, Barton City, MI 48705, USA. Its address points to a location that is, as described by visitors, "very secluded in the middle of nowhere." This characteristic is a significant part of its appeal for those seeking true solitude and a deep immersion in nature.
Barton City, though small with a population of 548 people, serves as the nearest identifiable town, providing a quaint local experience. While the immediate vicinity is rural and undeveloped, the campground is still reasonably accessible. Harrisville, a slightly larger town bordering Lake Huron, is approximately 20 minutes away. This proximity to Harrisville means that while the campground itself is remote, essential services and amenities, as well as the beautiful shores of Lake Huron, are within a convenient driving distance.

As a state forest campground, Jewell Lake Campground typically operates under the pricing and reservation structures set by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Direct "promotions" in the commercial sense (like buy-one-get-one-free nights) are uncommon for state-run facilities. However, there are inherent "offers" that make these campgrounds attractive. These often include affordable nightly rates compared to private campgrounds, which is a consistent benefit for Michigan residents looking for budget-friendly outdoor adventures. Additionally, those with Michigan Recreation Passports or other state park/forest passes may receive reduced entry or camping fees at various DNR properties, including Jewell Lake Campground.
Because it is a state forest campground, reservations are often managed through the DNR's online reservation system. While there might not be "special offers" in the traditional retail sense, the value comes from the consistent, low-cost access to pristine natural environments. For the most up-to-date information on camping rates, reservation policies, and any potential seasonal discounts or passes that might apply, it is always best to visit the Michigan DNR website or contact Jewell Lake Campground directly using the contact information provided below. It is important to note that due to its popular feature of not being crowded, promotions focused on increasing occupancy may not be a priority.

Customer Reviews
This state forest campground is very secluded in the middle of nowhere. Barton City is very nice and is really the only town in the area. All of the other little towns that are remotely close to Barton city are indeed very small just as Barton City (population of 548 people) is. With that said, Harrisville, which borders Lake Huron, is about 20 minutes away. The campground is very nice if you enjoy your privacy. The sites are very spacious. I went in the middle of July and the campground was like 1/10th full. It is a very quiet place, since the place does not fill up often. Jewel Lake is quite pretty as well. More often than not, it seems as if that you could probably have the lake to yourself. I would assume that locals do come here when the weather very hot. But generally speaking, the beach doesn't seem to fill up. Overall, this is a campground that not too many people know about and that may be for the better.
Paved CG with paved pull thru large sites. Clean updated vault restrooms. Camp host. Near-by Au Sable river.
Make sure you stake out the good sites. You may get sniped.
Really enjoyed ourselves. Adorable little lake. Nice Sandy Beach. Primitive camping but each site has a fire pit with a folding grill. The vault toilets got pretty rank in the heat but later in the evening as it cooled down they didn't smell quite as bad. Overall nice campground
Too much trash, plastic bags, pop & beer cans, etc. Many burn pits with unburnable garbage in em. Obviously it is not taken care of, even weekly, by whomever is supposed to. Too bad people clean up after themselves also.
