Lakeside Campground is conveniently located at 6180 Bedell Rd, Berlin Center, OH 44401, USA. This address places it squarely within Mahoning County, in the northeastern region of Ohio. Berlin Center itself is a charming, quieter community, offering a more relaxed atmosphere compared to bustling urban centers. • Recreational Opportunities: As a "Lakeside" campground, access to water-based activities such as fishing, potentially boating (with private boat launches or nearby public ones), and swimming is highly probable.

Features / Highlights

Lakeside Campground, despite limited public information, offers several highlights that can appeal to different types of campers looking for an experience in Ohio.

  • Seasonal Camping Opportunities: The presence of long-term "camp spaces" suggests a community where seasonal campers can establish a semi-permanent summer retreat, fostering familiarity and neighborly bonds over extended periods. This is a significant draw for many Ohioans who prefer to have a consistent base for their outdoor leisure.
  • Community-Oriented Events: The mentioned "Trick or Treating" event highlights a campground that actively organizes communal activities. This indicates a desire to create a lively atmosphere and provide entertainment, particularly for families. Such events can be a major draw for those seeking a social and engaging camping experience.
  • Lakeside Access: The very name "Lakeside Campground" implies direct or very close proximity to a lake, likely Berlin Lake. This is a crucial feature for campers who enjoy water activities such as fishing, boating, or simply relaxing by the water. The natural beauty and recreational potential offered by a lakeside setting are a prime highlight.
  • Established Presence: As an operating campground with existing customers, it has a history in the area, which can signify a certain level of consistent operation and familiarity within the local camping community.

It is important to note the varying perspectives in the customer reviews. While one review points to organized fun like "Trick or Treating" and the benefit of having a friend's space, suggesting a positive community aspect, another expresses strong dissatisfaction with the environment and security concerns, mentioning issues with "fall down drunks and obnoxious people" and "camper broken into twice." These contrasting experiences highlight that, like any community, Lakeside Campground may cater to a specific type of clientele and that individual experiences can vary widely. Prospective visitors should consider these points and perhaps inquire further about the specific atmosphere and security measures in place to determine if it aligns with their personal preferences for a camping environment.

Promotions or Special Offers

However, like many private campgrounds, especially those that cater to seasonal campers, there may be various types of offers available upon direct inquiry.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for Locals

For Ohio residents, Lakeside Campground in Berlin Center offers a unique set of characteristics that may make it a suitable choice for their outdoor recreation needs, particularly for those who value community events and extended stays.

Firstly, its location in Mahoning County, near Berlin Lake, is a significant advantage. For Ohioans living in the northeastern and central parts of the state, it represents a convenient and relatively short drive for a weekend getaway or a seasonal retreat. The proximity to a lake strongly appeals to locals who enjoy fishing, boating, and other water-based activities, providing readily accessible recreational opportunities right at their doorstep. This aligns well with Ohio's appreciation for accessible outdoor experiences.

Secondly, the apparent focus on seasonal camping, as indicated by the "friend has a camp space there" comment, suggests that Lakeside Campground caters to those looking for a more long-term, stable camping arrangement. For Ohio families or individuals who prefer to have a dedicated spot for their camper throughout the warmer months, this type of setup can foster a strong sense of community and familiarity. This reduces the hassle of repeatedly setting up and tearing down camp, allowing for more relaxed enjoyment of the site and its surroundings.

Moreover, the mention of "Trick or Treating" highlights that the campground actively organizes community events. For families with children, or individuals who enjoy social interaction within a campground setting, these organized activities can significantly enhance the camping experience. It provides opportunities for engagement and connection among campers, which many locals might seek in a recreational setting.

However, it is crucial for prospective Ohio visitors to consider the varying experiences detailed in customer reviews. While the positive aspects point to community and convenience, the negative feedback regarding "fall down drunks and obnoxious people" and security issues, including "camper broken into twice," necessitates careful consideration. This suggests that the campground might have a more relaxed atmosphere regarding noise and behavior, which could be a deterrent for those seeking a strictly quiet or family-focused environment. For locals, understanding this dynamic is vital to ensure their expectations align with the actual campground atmosphere. If a lively and less restrictive environment is preferred, it might be suitable. If peace, quiet, and stringent security are top priorities, direct inquiry into current policies and recent improvements would be advisable.

In conclusion, Lakeside Campground presents itself as a potentially appealing option for Ohioans, especially those interested in seasonal camping, community events, and lakeside access within a manageable driving distance. Its suitability largely depends on individual preferences regarding campground atmosphere and the level of activity desired. For those who find value in an established community with organized fun, it could be a fitting choice for their next Ohio outdoor adventure.

I'm really disappointed in this campground. If you like to be around a bunch of drunks, this is the place to be, and not talking about drinking to be social, I'm talking about fall down drunks and obnoxious people. My camper was broken into twice here, and the owners were two doors down. My advice is to find another campground! Sorry, not sorry.

They have a hillbilly sign that is hardly legible and frankly reads as tho someone with limited education wrote it. Also, someone said I was rude because I said it was my first time and last time there. I am just straight to the point and matter of fact. I paid the cover charge but I have no desire to return there. Thanks 😉

I was profiled by the owner of the campground because she thought I was under 18 (I’m 20). I showed her my military CAC/ID she took it and called it fake. I said that it’s real and other veterans were telling her it’s real. After her refusing to give it back The police had to come and tell her the same thing. She threatened to Evict us i I were to correct her again. I tell all my soldiers not to go there at all. Not veteran/military friendly!!!! Oh did I tell you she makes sarcastic comments to me and my family. I only go there because it’s closer to camp Garfield the my house!!!

We went to look at a camper for my mother. We were directed to the camper and went the way we were shown. We never told to not go that way. There is a sign that apparently means no cars. BUT ITS THE SIZE OF A GIRL SCOUT COOKIE BOX AND ITS 6 FEET IN THE AIR. Needless to say, we never saw the sign. So. We went over the camper was nice, went to leave, find out the owner of the park came over and yelled at my sister about the way we came. They told her, we never saw a sign and the lady from the office pointed this way, so we thought we could come through here. Apparently they were rude and didn’t want to hear anything. So we go to leave. The woman from the office walks out and stands in the middle of the road and blocks the way out. I stopped, rolled down the window and she starts going off on me about how I told her boss to come this way and I must be stupid because there is a sign that states no cars come this way, also there was a f*** you and all kinds of words like that thrown at me. I tried to explain to her that her and the owners of the camper we were looking at were the only people we talked to, unless they talked to my sister. But I got her in trouble because I was stupid. Needless to say my mother will not buying the camper or ever stepping foot in the park again because that was completely uncalled for and completely unprofessional. Apparently they are also drunks who don’t really care about you unless it benefits them.
