Services Offered

The Backyard at Styx specializes in providing a straightforward and welcoming primitive camping experience, focusing on essential services that enhance your natural getaway. While not a full-service RV resort, our offerings are perfectly tailored to those who appreciate simplicity, direct river access, and personal hospitality.

  • Tent Camping Sites: The primary offering is a "good spot to put up our tent," catering to campers who carry their own gear and enjoy traditional tent camping.
  • Proximity to Styx River: The campground is "very close to Styx to go floating," implying easy access for launching and enjoying river activities. Guests have noted being taken "on a ride on the back of a trailer to the water," indicating a unique transport service to the river.
  • Porta Potty Access: A "porta potty" is available on the property, providing basic and essential restroom facilities for campers.
  • Large Communal Tent: There is a "huge tent that we could use," which likely serves as a communal shelter or gathering space, especially beneficial during inclement weather or for group activities.
  • Friendly and Accommodating Hosts: Staff members like Michelle and the overall "staff at the Backyard at Styx" are consistently praised for their "hospitality," "going above and beyond to accommodate," and helping guests "get situated," even for "huge groups." This personal touch is a key service.
  • Convenient Access to Amenities (Off-Site): While primitive on-site, the extremely close proximity to the "Oasis truck stop (less than a half mile away)" provides crucial off-site services including:
    • Showers
    • Food options
    • General store items for forgotten necessities
  • Parking Space: Ample parking is available for vehicles, even for those on motorcycles carrying their own gear.

It's important to note that this is a primitive camping location, meaning full hookups for RVs (water, sewer, electricity) are not the primary offering, and campers should come prepared for a rustic experience, relying on the nearby truck stop for showers and more extensive amenities. The emphasis is on the natural setting and direct river access.

Promotions or Special Offers

As The Backyard at Styx appears to be a smaller, more personalized camping spot focused on primitive experiences and direct river access, it might not run formal, advertised "promotions" in the same way larger commercial campgrounds do. However, it's always recommended to contact them directly for the most current information regarding:

  • Camping Fees: Inquire about the exact per-night or per-person fees for primitive camping. Reviews suggest prices are reasonable.
  • Group Rates: Given their willingness to accommodate "huge groups," inquire if there are special rates available for larger parties.
  • Day Use Options: If you are interested in only accessing the river for floating or other activities without camping overnight, ask about any day-use fees.
  • Availability for Specific Dates: Since it's a popular spot, especially for river activities, confirm availability for your desired camping dates well in advance.
  • Special Arrangements: Given the host's willingness to go "above and beyond," don't hesitate to mention any specific needs or requests to see how they might be accommodated.
