Customer Reviews
A wonderful campground that is free in the winter with no amenities available at that time. I spent about a week here at the beginning of February and didn't see anyone else the entire time. Very safe and love the covered picnic tables
This place has amazing views of the lake great place to camp. And price was great.
I used to come to this lake a TON as a kid. Still a great place, but now there are so many stickers / sand burs that it's unbelievable. Originally, we were in sight b50 and b52, and these stickers were dense enough and big enough to take out 10,000 small children. The dam was beautiful, the wildlife is great, the hiking trails were decent (but still stickers on the trails). There's a couple of restaurants really close by and they're pretty affordable. There weren't really any stickers in the rest of the Big bend campsites except for the three at the end I mentioned. The people that work here, and live around here, are SUPER friendly!
It was a little too cold to do anything that day on the playground but the kids had an interesting experience for the weekend and look forward to coming back when it is warmer. Do wish they had 50amp hookups and had no trails that we saw. Reg gas every where seemed to contain 10% ethanol.
Our very first visit to Canton Lake as well as Big Bend camp ground. We loved it, the grounds were well kept, the sites and hookups were well maintained. The lake was clean and clear. I will say that camp site A15 is NOT easily accessible for campers longer that 20’ We have a 29’ trailer that unhooking and leveling was difficult.
