Customer Reviews
Decent camp site, definitely older, but we stayed there for almost 6 months and had no issues. The price isn't terrible for everything included, but there are no bathrooms, so make sure you have your sewer and water hook up! (Free washer and dryer for guests) Super quiet and peaceful, great neighbors, and Sean, the land man was super helpful every time we needed him! It's almost a 40 min drive from any town, but if you're used to the county and long drives, it's no different than that!
Skyanchor is a family friendly campground.. We go there a lot to camp.. You can tent camp and they have an RV site as well.. They have a bath house.. Indoor plumbing.. Access to water.. They have a pond.. The owners are very friendly and always willing to help you out.. The keep and maintain the property very well.. Very time I go there they have done some type of renovations to the property..
This place is absolutely lovely. It's extremely quiet and peaceful. It's actually really conveniently located, too. You can get pretty much anywhere within 30 minutes to a few hours.
We had been speaking with Norman, the owner, for FIVE months about a site for my husband's work in that area. Half the time he "forgot" about our reservations and the reservations of others who were also coming for work. We should have gone with our gut and chose one of the other campgrounds in the area. Ended up having an issue with our rv and arrived around 900pm during a storm. Pulled into the only site open which was supposed to be for us and were unable to hook up to it. As one does at all campgrounds, we told the owner the size of our RV (actually multiple times). The only option was to back in which was fine except only a tiny camper would be able to fit into the site and actually plug into the electrical box. The water hook up would have required numerous hoses coupled together and ran into a nearby building! The sewer hose would have traversed across our entry way over to same buidling. Close by hotels would not accept dogs and we ended up sleeping in a Wal-Mart parking lot with two young children!!!! I cannot advise to be cautious when trying to get a site here because i was very adamant and continuously following up with what felt like someone who did not know how to run a business; i can whole-heartedly say do NOT get a site here....you will probably be left in a similarly awful predicament as we were. When i messaged the owner the following day to let him know we were unable to utilize the site, we never heard back. Terrible business person.
Nice serene, comfortable campground. The RV portion is small, uncrowded, quiet & some what shaded with trees all around. Been there over 3 months. Of all the 50 or so campgrounds I've been to in my 60 + years, sky anchor / camp Idlewild is the absolute best. I'll be staying a while. Sean, the manager keeps the grounds clean, treats for weeds & constantly "repairs" the (rather long) driveway!
