This campground, known for its stunning lake views and peaceful atmosphere, is an ideal destination for anyone seeking a blend of outdoor adventure and relaxing tranquility.
What sets Dames Ferry Campground apart is its unique location as the sole campground directly on Lake Juliette, a pristine body of water formed by the Ocmulgee River. This means many of the sites offer magnificent waterfront views, providing a breathtaking backdrop for your morning coffee or evening campfire. While it’s managed under the umbrella of Georgia State Parks, Dames Ferry maintains a distinct charm, often praised for its well-maintained grounds and friendly staff. It’s a place where the sounds of nature, particularly the gentle lapping of the lake, are the primary soundtrack to your stay, offering a genuine respite from the everyday hustle.
Beyond the scenic beauty, Dames Ferry Campground caters to a variety of camping styles. Whether you prefer the comfort of your RV with full hookups or the classic experience of pitching a tent, the campground is equipped to accommodate. Guests frequently highlight the cleanliness of the facilities, including the bathhouses and laundry room, which are essential for a comfortable camping trip, especially for longer stays. This attention to detail ensures that even though you're embracing the outdoors, you won't have to compromise on basic comforts.
Moreover, the surrounding area offers more than just camping. Lake Juliette itself is a haven for anglers, boasting a healthy population of various fish species. For those who enjoy exploring local culture and history, the charming town of Juliette, famously featured in the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes," is just a short drive away. This allows campers to combine their love for the outdoors with delightful excursions to local attractions, making Dames Ferry Campground a versatile choice for a memorable Georgia getaway.
Dames Ferry Campground is conveniently located at 9546 GA-87, Juliette, GA 31046, USA. The campground’s position right off a main road (GA-87) ensures straightforward navigation, even for larger RVs.
Upon arrival, you'll find the roads within the campground are paved and well-maintained, ensuring a smooth ride to your chosen site. As a Georgia State Park campground, Dames Ferry Campground operates under the standard pricing structure and reservation system of the Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites. While specific "promotions" in the commercial sense are not typically offered, there are inherent benefits that act as ongoing value for campers. These include the consistency of pricing, the reliability of state park management, and often, the affordability compared to some private campgrounds. A required ParkPass is needed for all vehicles entering the park, with options for a daily pass ($5) or an annual ParkPass ($50). For frequent visitors to Georgia State Parks, the annual ParkPass offers significant savings and can be considered a promotional benefit. Additionally, joining the "Friends of Georgia State Parks" organization can provide a complimentary Annual ParkPass, which is a fantastic way to support the parks system while enjoying free access.
For the most current information on site availability, pricing, and any seasonal offers or discounts, it is always recommended to check the Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites reservation website or call the park directly. They can provide up-to-date details on any special rates for extended stays, or off-season discounts that might be available. The value proposition of Dames Ferry Campground largely comes from its desirable lakeside location, well-maintained facilities, and the consistent quality associated with Georgia's state park system.

Small nice campground, right off a main road and plenty to do around it. We went to Macon museum of arts and sciences free with pass from our library, hit whistle stop Cafe and enjoyed the dam. We were site 12 which was a nice easy pull thru that faced water. It was windy and cold our last night but still enjoyable.
I stayed at site #24 and must admit this has became my go to campground. The park is peaceful, safe and quiet. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. The staff was very informative and pleasant.
Wonderful and great site, only issue was site did not match online RSVP. Required us to relocate since original reservation has been filled with concrete and did not permit tent setup
36 sites, some on the lakefront, most have some shade. 3-4 pull through, the remaining back-ins. There are two handicap sites located near the two bathroom/shower facilities. There is a nice children's playground. The office has a limited selection of camping and grocery items, and the nearest shopping facility is 8-9 miles on 23. The park has kayak rentals. Very pretty park. Has a visitors' day park and boat ramp. Motorized boats with greater than 10hp motors are not permitted. All sites have a fire ring and a separate food grill. Fire wood available to purchase $ 7.50 a bundle. If you have a Georgia patk membership, you'll receive a 10% discount.
