Introduction / Overview: Your Practical RV Stop in Fairmont, WV
For residents of the Mountain State, whether you are a traveling worker, an outdoor enthusiast, or simply need an accessible overnight stop, finding an RV park with the right balance of convenience and essential amenities is crucial. Fairmont Hills RV Park, located in Fairmont, West Virginia, is positioned to serve as that practical destination. Designed primarily for travelers seeking full hookup services and excellent highway access, it operates as a streamlined, self-sufficient base for exploring Marion County or just passing through.
Unlike traditional destination campgrounds with extensive recreational facilities, Fairmont Hills focuses on providing the necessary infrastructure for modern RV living. The park is often described as a convenient, neighborly place located near commercial amenities, catering to those who spend their time exploring the local area or utilizing the site for work-related stays. The management’s intent is to provide a functional and reliable site that eliminates the need for frequent trips to dump stations or external service providers, making it a highly efficient option for long-term residents and overnight guests alike. Understanding its role as a functional, full-utility RV park near a major interstate is the best way to appreciate its value to the West Virginia traveling community.
Location and Accessibility: Right Off the Interstate
The greatest asset of Fairmont Hills RV Park is its strategic, highly accessible location. Situated at 930 E Grafton Rd, Fairmont, WV 26554, the park is positioned almost immediately off Interstate 79 (I-79) at Exit 137. For RVers traveling north or south through West Virginia, this quick access minimizes the hassle of navigating local roads, which is a significant advantage when driving a large recreational vehicle.
Its proximity to the interstate also means it’s conveniently located near a variety of essential services and amenities. Residents and visitors have easy access to nearby restaurants, gas stations, retail stores, and lodging, including the adjacent Clarion Inn. This 'middle of everywhere' placement in North Central West Virginia also means key regional hubs like Morgantown and Clarksburg are just a short commute away. This makes Fairmont Hills RV Park an incredibly practical home base for traveling professionals, temporary workers, or anyone needing to stay connected to the commercial and medical centers of Marion County and beyond. The accessibility factor is a key reason why many West Virginia locals choose this site for their practical, on-the-go lifestyle.

Conclusion: Why Fairmont Hills is Suitable for West Virginia Locals
Fairmont Hills RV Park is highly suitable for West Virginia locals who value convenience, utility, and an accessible location. The park’s primary offering is simplicity and functionality—it is the ideal stop for the modern RV owner who requires full, dependable hookups and wants to minimize driving distance from the major interstate. For the traveling resident who uses their RV as a mobile office or temporary home near a worksite, the inclusion of essential services like high-speed Wi-Fi, on-site laundry, and full 50-amp service provides genuine, practical value that far outweighs the absence of typical campground frills like picnic tables or fire rings.
The transparent business model, focused entirely on practical, essential services at a key location, makes it a reliable and smart choice for those in the region who prioritize convenience over elaborate recreational amenities. While some may prefer a more traditional, scenic camping experience, Fairmont Hills excels at being the most logistically convenient and essential service provider for RVers in the heart of the North Central West Virginia corridor, making it a reliable pillar for the local traveling community.

We’ve been camping for over 40 years and this is by far the worst place we’ve ever been in. We stayed there 2 years ago and marked it as a stay over one night place, close to the highway. It wasn’t too bad then. This year we called and paid for two nights. First mistake. There were weeds around the site and across the road. I don’t believe the grass, or whatever it is has been mowed or weedwacked all season. There wasn’t even a spot for me to let our dogs do their business. We went out for the day, got back and she had given our site to someone else! I called, she apologized and gave us the worst site on the planet. An old water filter, rocks all over the pad, command strips with hooks everywhere, an empty booze bottle, just trash. AND there was no way we could level our motorhome. Called again and were placed on the lower level down a ski slope hill. There are no amenities, no bathrooms, no table, no fire ring, nothing, because there is no room for anything. We’re done with this place. Never again.
Sep 26, 2025 · Barbara NelsonLocation is great when traveling. That is best thing I can say. They have taken 1 normal size campsite and turned it into 2! Choose between letting out a slide OR an awning because you cannot do both! If you are traveling… keep going.
Aug 15, 2025 · Shelly GriffisI have more negatives than positives.. the only positive I found was beautiful views of the sunsets and sunrises. Negatives: *Constant noise. Interstate traffic, sirens and demolition/construction on the hotel. * there's no office, you just have to call until they answer or decide to get back to you. *just ignorant. Tried to put us in two different spots that we wouldn't fit in when arriving. * very steep inclines just to enter the campground, switch backs and tight turns. *wifi was so unreliable we got starlink just so we could have internet. *spaces are on top of each other, maybe 3 feet of grass between spots. *parking is a joke if all (gravel and paved) spots are full. Barely enough room to park a vehicle in front of your camper. *extremely overpriced. Water, electric, sewer hookups and mediocre internet doesn't justify almost $700 a month.
Apr 13, 2025 · Caitlin PersingerCampground is pretty tight for big rigs. On top of a hill right off the expressway. Some sites are asphalt , some are gravel. Site selection is first come, first served, so we didn’t have a lot to select from. It is pretty much for over night stops, but there are several longer term campers there, mostly on the bigger and better sites. Sites are very tight together, only a few feet between sites. Overall, great location, our site was ok, no problems. Just tight. Probably will not use again due to how tight everything is, but again not horrible.
