Introduction / Overview
For Minnesota families, organizations, or large friend groups planning a truly memorable North Woods getaway, the Group Camp at Scenic State Park offers a unique and highly sought-after destination. Located in one of Minnesota's most beloved State Parks, this facility provides a perfect balance of rustic wilderness charm and essential amenities to accommodate a large gathering. The camp is not simply a collection of individual sites; it is a dedicated, isolated area designed for a single large party, ensuring privacy and an unparalleled sense of seclusion.
Scenic State Park, established in 1921 to protect its towering virgin pine forests, is renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty. The Group Camp allows users to fully experience this wilderness atmosphere while having the space and dedicated facilities needed for an event. Users consistently praise the site for its massive size and the feeling of having a whole section of the park to themselves. Positioned right on the water, the Group Camp provides exceptional lake access and stunning views, making it an ideal central hub for a group adventure in the Bigfork area.
Location and Accessibility
The Group Camp is located within the boundaries of Scenic State Park, a cherished gem in north-central Minnesota. The park's general address is 56709 Scenic Hwy, Bigfork, MN 56628, USA. This places the camp approximately seven miles east of the town of Bigfork, off County Road 7 (Scenic Highway 7).
While the park itself is easily accessible via paved and maintained county roads, the Group Camp site is notably isolated from the main park campgrounds (Chase Point and Lodge Campground). This isolation is a key feature, providing a level of privacy necessary for large groups. Access to the Group Camp is generally via a dedicated road or spur trail. Although secluded, the site is large enough to accommodate vehicles, and the park’s main amenities, such as the historic Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Lodge, swimming beach, and boat launches, are a short drive or hike away, ensuring you can enjoy both solitude and full park access.

Great fishing spot. Very secluded. Only problem we had was random peoples camping who isnt a part of our group. But the park rangers came and took care of it.
Aug 29, 2025 · Mao LeeOne of the better rustic group camps I have seen in the MN park system. Site is very large and there are a few spot with power as well. You have great views and are right on the Lake. The spot also has a fishing pier and canoe rentals. The site is isolated from the main part of the park.
