Took a quick drive through to see if it would be someplace we would want to camp in the future. We didn't hike any of the trails. No time. It looked very rustic with pit toilets. Some of the trails looked overgrowen or not groomed too well. Look like they had some black top ones also. May change my rating if we come back and camp. Did not see any maps of the area. The drive areas are also very narrow. Probly not a good area for a motor home.
Oct 04, 2020 · chris kemperFound this campground after finding Frontenac State Park (always full). I rolled in at dusk and set up in no time. The campgrounds are relatively free from outside noise. Apparently the bugs are pretty bad in wet years but in early September, they were not bad at all. Make sure you check both loops for open sites. Pick one away from the main outhouses, though. Bring cash or check. $14 at the time of my stay. Each site has a fire ring and table. No other amenities.
Sep 13, 2017 · Wyatt CraneMy friend & I drove over from LaCrosse area for a different hike. We did the 5+ miles Campground loop counter clockwise. 2 nice hills for a cardio, pretty overlooks. Trail well maintained. There is one downed tree on the back side but we had no trouble navigating the trail although we did have the hike up in Alltrails. NOTE: there is a shooting range in the valley near the trail. We initially though we were hiking during a hunting season when we heard shots. No worries tho. We ate at Herb + Arrow in Wabasha after & highly recommend that delightful restaurant!
Dec 19, 2024 · Ellen HansonWe had the whole campground to ourselves and really enjoyed it -- it was a bit buggy with the mosquitoes We were in a teardrop trailer and had plenty of space to get in/out but I'm not sure how a larger RV would be able to manage as the road to campground is quite narrow The camping spots are well spaced from each other and have picnic tables/fire pits. The pit toilets were surprisingly clean
