While specific, comprehensive details on every service offered at Lake of the Woods Campground are not explicitly provided in the available public data, we can infer some common offerings based on its classification as a "campground" and mentions in customer reviews. Typically, campgrounds of this nature provide a variety of amenities to enhance the comfort and convenience of their guests. Based on the provided reviews, the following services can be suggested or inferred:
- **Campsites:** The campground offers various campsites, as indicated by a customer mentioning being able to "move campsites" and observations of "permanent sites for sale." These likely include options for RVs, trailers, and potentially tent camping.
- **Power Hookups:** There are sites equipped with power, though one review noted issues with "not enough power at the site to run both our ac units at the same time, kept popping the breaker." This suggests electrical hookups are available, but their capacity might vary or be subject to issues.
- **Staff Assistance:** The presence of "great staff, very friendly" suggests a team available to assist campers with needs like moving sites or addressing inquiries.
- **Access to a Pond/Lake:** The name "Lake of the Woods" and a review mentioning a "pond" strongly indicate that water access and associated activities might be a key offering, although the review also described the pond as not looking like the pictures and appearing "gross."
It is always recommended for prospective campers to contact the campground directly to inquire about specific services and their current condition, especially concerning facilities vital to their comfort, such as restrooms, showers, waste disposal, and the condition of any water access points.
Based on the provided customer feedback, here are some features and highlights of Lake of the Woods Campground, alongside important considerations:
- **Friendly Staff:** A significant positive highlight noted by a customer is the "great staff, very friendly," who were accommodating enough to "let us move campsites." This suggests a welcoming and helpful team on site.
- **Potential for Scenic Beauty:** The name "Lake of the Woods" inherently suggests a setting surrounded by natural beauty and water features, which is often a primary draw for campers.
- **Variety of Sites:** The mention of "permanent sites for sale" indicates that the campground caters to both transient visitors and long-term or seasonal campers, offering different types of site arrangements.
- **Flexibility for Campers:** The staff's willingness to allow a customer to move campsites demonstrates a degree of flexibility and customer service.
However, it is crucial to present a complete picture, and the reviews also highlight several areas of concern that prospective visitors should be aware of:
- **Run-Down Condition:** Multiple reviews lament the campground's current state, describing it as "so run down," with "dead trees," and "sites were run down looking." This contrasts sharply with past perceptions.
- **Pond/Water Quality Concerns:** The "pond didn’t look like the pictures," and a customer "didn’t even actually swim in it, it looked so gross." This is a significant concern for those hoping to enjoy water activities.
- **Power Supply Issues:** One review explicitly stated, "We didn’t get enough power at the site to run both our ac units at the same time, kept popping the breaker." This could be an important factor for RV campers reliant on full power.
- **Perceived Decline in Quality:** Customers expressed sadness over the campground "going down the drain" and noted it's "no where near what it used to be," attributing some changes to it being "corporate owned now."
- **Pricing vs. Upkeep:** One customer felt that "For over $100 a night you’d think the upkeep would be better," suggesting concerns about value for money given the perceived condition.
These points indicate that while the staff appears friendly, the overall maintenance and condition of the campground may be a significant consideration for potential visitors.

The presence of friendly staff is a clear positive, suggesting a welcoming atmosphere where guests feel heard and accommodated, as exemplified by allowing a site change. However, potential visitors, especially those from Wisconsin, should be aware of the recent customer feedback concerning the general upkeep of the grounds, the condition of the pond, and potential power limitations at sites. It suggests that while the location and staff are commendable, the physical infrastructure might not meet everyone's expectations for a modern, well-maintained campground. If you're a local looking for a relaxed outdoor experience and are comfortable with a more rustic feel or are prepared to inquire extensively about the current state of facilities, Lake of the Woods Campground might still offer a convenient base to explore the beautiful Waushara County region. Customer Reviews
Great staff, very friendly. Let us move campsites! But campground was so run down, dead trees, pond didn’t look like the pictures we didnt even actually swim in it, it looked so gross. We didn’t get enough power at the site to run both our ac units at the same time, kept popping the breaker. For over $100 a night you’d think the upkeep would be better. Very disappointed and won’t be returning. So much potential but just wasn’t there.
I haven’t been to this campgrounds in 10yrs but from what I remembered it was a nice campground. From what I seen the weekend it’s no where near what it used to be. Lot of permanent sites for sale. Sites were run down looking. Can definitely tell it’s corporate owned now. Sad to see a once nice campgrounds going down the drain.
I have to say, your reserve deputy who works as a security officer is off. After several nights of seeing him standing by in his golf cart watching us nightly as we walked our dogs, being one of the few costumers in the area, concerned us. This is coming from a person who had spent over 25 years in law enforcement. Totally weird and glad we are gone. 🚩🚩🚩🚩. Totally weird.
I never leave reviews, but felt I needed to for this spot. I was nervous based on some reviews, but this campground was one my non state park favorites! The pool was clean, the dog park was helpful with 2 young pups, the bathrooms were clean, and our kids did not want to leave. There were plenty of activities for the kids (and adults). We will definitely be back!
So glad that the restaurant and bar have RE OPENED. They have limited hours Friday 1-9pm, Saturday 1-9pm and Sunday 9am-3pm. The food is amazing and the staff is wonderful. Stop on out!
