Location and Accessibility

The Lynchburg / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA Holiday is conveniently situated at 6252 Elon Rd, Monroe, VA 24574, USA. This strategic location places it near the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, providing a gateway to countless outdoor adventures and historical explorations for residents of Virginia.

A significant advantage of this campground's location is its exceptional proximity to the renowned Blue Ridge Parkway. It is located just about 1 mile off the Parkway, accessible directly from the VA-130 exit between mile markers 61 and 62. This direct connection makes it incredibly easy for visitors to embark on scenic drives, access numerous overlooks offering panoramic views, and explore the extensive network of hiking trails that wind through the Blue Ridge Mountains.

For those traveling by road, the campground is approximately a 30-minute drive from Lynchburg, making it a feasible option for weekend getaways from this urban center. If approaching from Lynchburg, the recommended route is to take US-29 Business North, then turn left onto VA-130 (Elon Rd). While some GPS systems might suggest a highly winding route with potentially low overpasses, especially for larger rigs, coming via Lynchburg and VA-130 is generally considered the better approach. It's advisable to be aware that cell service, particularly for AT&T and Verizon, can be spotty or non-existent on certain stretches of the roads leading to and around the campground, so downloading maps or having physical directions is recommended.

Despite some initial navigational considerations, the location also offers practical conveniences. A dollar store and a gas station are just 10 minutes away, providing quick access to essentials. Beyond the immediate vicinity, the campground serves as an excellent central point for visiting a wealth of Virginia's attractions. Major historical sites such as the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, and Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest are all within a reasonable driving distance, allowing guests to combine outdoor recreation with educational excursions into Virginia's rich past. This blend of natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and historical significance underscores the suitability of the Lynchburg / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA Holiday for a diverse range of local travelers.

Decent park. The spots are extremely close together and isn't really big rig friendly. My wife had to walk us out because we were so close to hitting trees. Also, if the bath house is by your spot people just walk right through your spot to get to it. Also, they love car passes. They will have someone setup in a golf cart making sure you have a car pass. At one point we had two people run out the office door to flag us down because they couldn't see the car pass hanging from the mirror. They will charge $5 a guest to enter the park. So, if anyone wants to come visit you while you are there they better be ready to fork over some money. The WiFi isn't great either. First night it didn't work at all. Second night it was decent. Cell service is next to none with AT&T or Verizon. GPS will bring you in on a extremely windy road with some crazy turns and a low over pass. If you are able to come in through Lynchburg. The road is better that way. Just know you will lose cell service on the road at multiple points also. I never found a dog park. Only a small grassy area that had a clean up station. But the gnats were terrible over there. You won't have any grass on your lot unless you get lucky and get one of the few back in lots that has grass. Everything is pine bark and gravel.

We had made reservations at this KOA and were excited because we had been looking forward to staying here. A sudden emergency came up which forced my wife to have to undergo surgery. We are KOA VIP members and have always received great service wherever we stayed. This time NO! We called and asked if we could just move the dates but the response we received was terrible. They wouldn’t even consider a change. They were just eager to take our money. I can say with these people I will NEVER BOOK HERE AGAIN! I can’t believe they are allowed to be KOA! If i could give them a zero rating I would.

Very well-kept campground. Bathrooms/showers were clean and well furnished. The campground itself was very well manicured and has been maintained perfectly. The WIFI was pretty good too. Definitely will be staying here again.

Very friendly staff. Large level sites. Got a "campfire kit" that included a fire starter and the makings for s'mores. Big dog park. Campground conveniently located at the mile 60 entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which was our destination for the next day. A bit pricey but KOA has always been dependable for the price.
