Northgate RV Travel Park About
For RV travelers navigating the great state of Alabama, or locals simply seeking a convenient and comfortable spot for a brief stop, Northgate RV Travel Park in Athens stands out as a highly practical choice. Situated with remarkable ease right off I-65, this RV park is designed for efficiency and comfort, making it an excellent option for those needing a quick overnight stay or a couple of nights to explore the immediate area. Its straightforward approach to RV camping focuses on providing the essentials without unnecessary frills, ensuring a hassle-free experience for all guests.
Northgate RV Travel Park prides itself on its accessibility and user-friendly layout. Travelers with even the largest rigs, such as a 45-foot fifth wheel with a long bed truck or a 43-foot Class A towing a vehicle, will find the park easy to navigate. The emphasis here is on getting you settled quickly and comfortably so you can rest and recharge before continuing your journey. This focus on practical convenience makes it a preferred choice for those on the road, where every minute counts.
Beyond its ease of access, the park maintains a clean and safe environment, which are top priorities for any RVer. Guests consistently note the feeling of security, allowing for a peaceful night's sleep. While it’s recognized as a "simple campground," this simplicity is precisely its strength – delivering exactly what's needed for a comfortable stopover: reliable power, water, and easy-to-use pull-through sites. This makes it an ideal spot for weary travelers who prioritize efficiency and basic comforts over extensive amenities.
The local area surrounding Northgate RV Travel Park further enhances its appeal. Its close proximity to essential services like Walmart, Lowe's, and a variety of restaurants means that provisions and dining options are just moments away, adding another layer of convenience to your stay. For a quick stop or a brief exploration of Athens, Northgate RV Travel Park offers a strategic and welcoming base.
Northgate RV Travel Park boasts an incredibly convenient location at 1757 US-31, Athens, AL 35613, USA. Its primary draw is its immediate proximity to Interstate 65, being situated right off Exit 354 in Athens, Alabama. This makes it exceptionally easy for travelers heading north or south on I-65 to access the park with minimal deviation.
Athens, located in Limestone County, is a charming city in North Alabama. It serves as a regional hub and offers a variety of services and attractions. The park's placement right off a major highway means that you are not only easily connected to the interstate system for onward travel but also conveniently close to a host of amenities within Athens. As noted by visitors, a Walmart and Lowe's are nearby, providing easy access for groceries, supplies, or any unexpected repair needs. Numerous restaurants are also in the vicinity, offering diverse dining options for those who prefer to eat out rather than cook in their RV.
While the entrance directly off US-31 requires attention, particularly for larger rigs due to potentially fast-moving traffic and a need for a wide turn, the overall ease of ingress and egress from the interstate remains a significant advantage. This strategic location makes it an ideal overnight stop for those traveling long distances, such as returning from Florida or embarking on a cross-state journey through Alabama.
Furthermore, Athens itself offers local charm and some attractions for those with a bit more time. It's home to Athens State University, and the historic downtown area provides a glimpse into Alabama's past with its well-preserved architecture and local shops. Huntsville, a larger city with significant attractions like the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, is also a relatively short drive away, making Northgate RV Travel Park a viable stop for those looking to explore more of North Alabama's offerings. Its accessibility truly underscores its purpose as a convenient "travel park."

Customer Reviews
Right off I-65, exit 354 in Athens, Al. Easy to get in and out of with a 45 foot fifth wheel & f-450 long bed truck. Nice, clean, felt safe and close to a Walmart & Lowe’s & restaurants. No sweet dump, but not needed for an overnight or 2. Has power and water. I like the pull through sites.
We camped here for the first time on our way back from Florida. It is a simple campground with easy access sites. There were no real amenities, but it was a perfect stopover with nice owners. There were about a dozen people that overnighter there the night we stayed. The only thing I would coach guests on coming from I65 is that the entrance doesn't have a deceleration lane, and traffic moves fairly fast, so use your turn signals soon and begin a long deceleration. Also, because of a deep drainage ditch on either side of the entrance, it would be prudent to take a very wide swing into the entrance. We were driving a 43' Class A towing a Chevy Tahoe, and we made it from the right lane, but not a lot of buffer. About a 5 on the pucker factor scale of 10.
Strike three! Convenient stop but owner makes you feel he’s doing you a favor taking your money. 25% rate hike and that attitude just lost you a return customer. Stayed here about four times in last couple years but no more.
Perfect for an overnight stopover, owners are very hospitable. Sights are reasonably level and are crushed stone. All utilities work as they should, we were cautioned about the city water pressure, and told to use a regulator. Looking forward to the aviary and the homing or racing pigeons. Good luck.
This was a great 1 night stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very quiet. Easy access off Hwy 65. Will definitely stay again on our way through.
