Very nice, new campground, with all new accommodations! Wifi is great, nice flat sites, and hookups are all new & work well! The bathouse is very nice, & the RV park is in a good location, with an excellent barbecue restaurant right next door(walking distance). Pt. Mallard Park is just minutes away! Also, the common area, firepits & picnic tables are a plus!! The price to stay is very reasonable, & the staff is very pleasant! I would recommend this campground to anyone looking to stay in Decatur!

We stayed here during Memorial Day weekend - a very busy weekend for this area (Alabama Jubilee). I was pleased to find an option of an available campground for the event, as Red Oak RV had recently opened. I was also thankful they (mostly) finished the bathhouse in time for our stay. The location was also convenient to Point Mallard. It is an RV park - basically just a gravel lot with clearly marked sites. Nothing fancy, although they are installing a common area of fire pits and picnic tables (not individual per site). At this time, the RV park is still a work in progress. The construction near the bathhouse left multiple screws and a rusty razor blade within steps of the bathhouse entrance. (Thankfully I was observant before my children stepped on or picked them up.) There was also chunks of metal wiring within our site. A thorough clean up after all construction is done would be wise. The power was out in the women's restroom the second night of our stay (likely due to installment of electrical items during the daytime). A fellow camper warned us of the dog park area, as her dog was injured while playing in it -she was concerned of broken glass. As other reviewers mentioned, it is located next to a work release facility...not too comforting, but the lot is gated and they have built a wooden fence in front of the barbed wire fence for additional privacy. We also experienced the party at the adjacent BBQ restaurant, which made it difficult to enter the park one night - hopefully not a recurring situation as it is not good for the RV park's business or customers. Last note: the bathhouse is somewhat interesting: they have a men's and women's bathhouse (+ laundry room), both of which are quite large. Each bathhouse has a shower and toilet, but only one entrance. If anyone happens to be using the shower, you will have to wait to use the restroom. There was certainly enough space to lay this out differently with stalls, or even build more bathhouses in the same space. (May be my personal preference, but I have't seen this set up at any other campgrounds.)
