SWC Campground in Beaver Bay Township is an excellent choice for Minnesotans seeking a balanced and enjoyable camping experience along the North Shore. Its modern amenities, particularly the all-site electric hookups and clean bathhouse, address a common desire for comfort while still offering the outdoor adventure that defines Minnesota's appeal. For locals, this means a significantly less rustic experience than some other area campgrounds, making it highly suitable for families, those with smaller RVs, or tent campers who appreciate having power and convenient facilities.
The campground’s direct access to the Gitchi-Gami State Trail is a massive draw for the many Minnesotans who enjoy biking. The ability to pedal directly from your campsite along the scenic North Shore, connecting to various towns and attractions, is an unparalleled convenience. This feature alone makes SWC Campground a prime destination for active locals looking to combine camping with their passion for cycling. While it may not offer direct lake views from every site, its strategic location ensures that Lake Superior's beauty and recreational opportunities are just a short walk or drive away.
As a newer campground, SWC also benefits from well-planned spacing between sites, providing a sense of openness and privacy that many campers desire. For Minnesotans, who often frequent the North Shore, SWC Campground offers a fresh, clean, and comfortable alternative to older, more established parks. It bridges the gap between rugged wilderness and modern convenience, providing a perfect base for exploring everything this iconic region has to offer, all within a reasonable drive from much of the state. It's a reliable, enjoyable option for creating new memories in the beautiful Northwoods of Minnesota.
This is a newer campground. All sites have electric hook-ups. As with the state park sites in Minnesota, no water or sewer hook-ups, but water spigots are a short walk from every site. As a new campground, you shouldn't plan on shade, as it will take a bit for any tree growth, but the sites are spaced nicely. It is a bit of a walk to the bathhouse but again there are plenty of vault toilets in the campground itself, and they are all clean (and smell clean). If you bike, it is on the Gichi Gammi trail so you bike from your campsite up and down the north shore. I enjoy camping here. The only downside is you can't see the big lake from here, but that's a small price to pay for the nice facilities.
May 16, 2025 · Lou McCoyBrand new campground and new updated shower building. The sites are unique an they are on a small rock cliff. Pick the outer ring for a more spread out spot.
