Customer Reviews
We had a great stay at thisRV resort, clean nice wooded spacious areas site was really level. We didn’t get to use the amenities cause we were early in the season but everything looks good and you can tell they’re really trying to fix and spruce to place up probably better yet a couple years down the line will be back. Good luck
Fantastic quiet, but fun RV campground. The pool and hot tub are great! We had the nicest little stream right behind our spot. There are lots of places to choose from on Fox River and a couple ponds. They have a lot of seasonal campers and those folks hosted a pig roast for the entire campground for Labor Day. The community feeling here is great. We will be back every year!
Rented a cabin and an RV site. Overall a 3.5 rating (RV site 3 and cabin 4) RV sites and roads are gravel. Neither are in great shape. Our site was fully covered in last years fall leaves and many branches from the trees. There are a lot of trees, which is nice. The utilities worked but the placement on the sites is odd. Water far from sewer and sewer far from electricity. When a neighbor came to the site next to us, they had to use a water y connector and connect to our sites water or they would have no water. That killed our water pressure for our last 2 days of our stay. There are a significant number of “seasonal” renters and it’s obvious that there are no standards enforced. The cabin was clean, well appointed and decorated. The furnishings were all nice and very comfortable. Basic kitchen needs were provided - plates, utensils, toaster etc. It was equipped with a fire pit and 4 Muskoka chairs outside - very nice. Water pressure was an issue and when we first arrived, the water smelled like Sulfer. It was rectified by draining the water heater several times. While the cabin was nice, it was high in price ($250) considering that you have to provide all your own linens and toiletries. Did not use any amenities but there is a game room that looks nice, a pool that looks nice but was closed for the season, and a nice kids playground. Did not see the laundry room. I think they are working on upgrading the place and with more work, it could be a great campground. All of the staff we encountered were very nice.
Only an Hour from Chicago burbs it was a great surprise to find such a nice spot. The RV resort is being "rejuvenated" from the previous condition of an old campground. We were happy to see all the amenities that were put in to make it a fun place for families with kids. Pool, large hot tub, billards, ping pong, bags, park, pickleball courts, basketball exc. The kids loved the proximity to all the fun stuff. They had a DJ pool side Saturday and a Taco truck which was super cool and unique! More utility removal is needed to clean up the old grounds but the resort is moving in the right direction and it's visitors will be impressed for years to come. We will definitely be back!
For the record, I've seen the owners of this establishment attempt to disparage the poor reviews, but my wife and I are professionals, in our 40's, have a new, well maintained travel trailer and Toyota Tundra. We keep our trailer and grounds very clean and are quiet neighbors. We left after two weeks, cutting my business project short so we could leave early. I reserved a place here for a month back in March of this year, after reading the reviews and considering they might have been another case of bad perspective. I read about trash not cleaned up, hazardous objects in the grounds, and constant noise from construction work. (Not to mention construction vehicles blazing through the roads far faster than 5mph) After staying there less than two weeks, my wife and I couldn't take it any more and left. The reviews are right. When staying there, we felt it to be a dingy and poorly managed. The entrance has a small unstaffed building where you must call the number from the paper pasted on the door. After that you get in by a license plate scanner (which is nice). The woods have scrap wood everywhere. Trash, unfinished lots, and in the back of the complex there are two buildings left partially built. In my own site, the pvc pipe from the old electrical mast was left cut off at 3" from the dirt. Had I or my wife stepped on it we'd have been injured. They advertise that they're a place for children and families, but no one can run freely in the grass without possibly stepping on something sharp. They don't accept packages. When asked about it, I was abruptly (and very pompously) informed by one of the owners how much experience they had in campsite management, followed by his long barrage of reasons why he was right- followed by him ending the call abruptly after. The gist I get is they're looking for a more passive investment, rather than a "resort" that needs a staff. There's an RV storage portion of the park with travel trailers lined up, right next to the dumpsters, right next to the pond. You really just feel like you're in a piece of land that was once a decent place to camp, possibly in the 90's, and now it's just an attempt at a passive investment. It is not a resort. Resorts have staff, and they're attentive to the needs of their patrons. Aside from the debris found In my site during my arrival, or the three washers/dryers for over 1000 sites, of all of the other items mentioned here- I just think this place deserves better owners- or- they need to increase their staff and take care of it. I truly don't think many of the projects they're working on are safe in the current condition they're in- not for children or dogs at least. Not to mention the trash throughout the place. I'll never stay there again. I've been all over the country and in other countries as well, and this was among the bottom 3 in rank.
