AOK Campground & RV Park About
For many in Missouri, the call of the open road and the promise of adventure often lead to exploring the state's beautiful landscapes and charming communities. When traveling with an RV, finding the perfect spot to set up camp is crucial for a comfortable and enjoyable journey. In the vicinity of St. Joseph, Missouri, AOK Campground & RV Park stands out as a destination for those seeking a place to rest their wheels. This article aims to provide a clear, factual, and engaging overview of AOK Campground & RV Park, helping local Missourians and visitors alike understand what to expect from this established RV park.
AOK Campground & RV Park is often described as a welcoming place by its visitors, highlighting the friendly and accommodating nature of its owners. This personal touch can make a significant difference in the overall camping experience, creating a more inviting atmosphere for guests. While some aspects of the park might be subject to personal preference, the consistent positive feedback on the ownership suggests a commitment to guest satisfaction. The park's ability to offer a serene pond-side experience, despite its proximity to certain urban influences, further contributes to its unique appeal.
AOK Campground & RV Park is located at 12430 Co Rd 360, St Joseph, MO 64505, USA. This address places it just outside the immediate hustle and bustle of downtown St. Joseph, yet still within convenient reach of the city's amenities and attractions. The location on County Road 360 suggests a more rural or semi-rural setting, which can appeal to campers looking for a quieter experience than a park directly within city limits.
However, it's important for prospective visitors, particularly those with large or high-value RVs, to be aware of the access road conditions. One review notes that "the campground requires campers to drive about a mile of rough, rock, and washboards. This is not ideal for someone driving a $100,000 RV and towing a $60,000 vehicle." While this might be a minor inconvenience for some, it's a significant consideration for others, indicating that careful driving is advised on the approach to the park. Despite this, the park's overall accessibility to St. Joseph means that once settled, campers can easily venture into the city for supplies, dining, or sightseeing. The balance between a slightly secluded entrance and proximity to urban conveniences is a key aspect of its location.
AOK Campground & RV Park offers a range of essential services designed to cater to the needs of RV travelers. While a comprehensive list of every single amenity isn't always publicly detailed, the common services provided at such parks, combined with customer feedback, indicate the following:
- Full hookups: Typically includes 30 and/or 50-amp electrical service, fresh water connections, and sewer hookups at each site, essential for a comfortable RV stay.
- Restrooms and showers: While not explicitly detailed in reviews, these are standard amenities at RV parks for guests without full self-containment or those who prefer separate facilities.
- Wi-Fi access: Available, though one review indicates it was "patchy, at best," suggesting reliance on a personal hotspot might be advisable for consistent connectivity.
- On-site office: For check-ins, inquiries, and potentially minor amenities or information, although a review suggested a "recommendation would be to... offer some amenities for sale in the office."
- Daily, weekly, and potentially monthly rates: To accommodate various lengths of stay.
- Pet-friendly policies: Common in RV parks, typically requiring pets to be leashed and owners to clean up after them.
These services cover the fundamental requirements for most RVers, aiming to provide a convenient and hassle-free camping experience.
AOK Campground & RV Park boasts several features and highlights that contribute to its appeal, even amidst some noted areas for improvement.
- Friendly and Welcoming Owners: This is a consistent positive highlight, with reviews stating, "The owners were very nice and welcoming" and "The owners are very easy to do business with, and accommodating." This personal touch significantly enhances the guest experience.
- Pond-Side Sites: One reviewer specifically mentioned their "spot was beautiful, right next to the pond," indicating the availability of picturesque sites that offer a scenic and tranquil setting.
- Sense of Community: "Everyone at the park was very nice," suggesting a friendly and respectful atmosphere among campers.
- Clear Rules: "They have their rules, and as long as you follow them, I had no issues," which can be reassuring for guests who appreciate a structured and orderly environment.
- Good for a Quick Stopover: Despite some critiques, it's still considered "a good place to hang your hat for the night," making it suitable for travelers passing through.
Areas that could be considered for future enhancement, based on feedback, include potentially asphalt paving camping pads to mitigate mud issues and addressing traffic noise, which "can be heard throughout the night."

Customer Reviews
Campground is nice. A few recommendations would be to asphalt the camping pads because of mud and offer some amenities for sale in the office. The campground requires campers to drive about a mile of rough, rock, and washboards. This is not ideal for someone driving a $100,000 RV and towing a $60,000 vehicle. Wi-Fi was patchy, at best so we connected to our hotspot, but the weather was dreary so that might have been the problem. The owners were very nice and welcoming. Pricing is about the same as a KOA, but definitely not up to the same standards. If you’re sensitive to traffic noise, it can be heard throughout the night. Still a good place to hang your hat for the night.
My stay at AOK was amazing. The owners are very easy to do business with, and accommodating. They have their rules, and as long as you follow them, I had no issues. My spot was beautiful, right next to the pond. Everyone at the park was very nice. Would love to stay again next time I am in the area!
Convienantly located treasure!! Right off interstate, grounds and facilities were immaculate!! The pool area was lively, playground was large and well appointed, lots of outdoor games , laundry and shower rooms we neat and VERY clean!! You won't regret stopping in!!
Stayed for a few months last year. Just want to share my experience. I have a 7lb dog who I took to go potty in the middle of a snow storm and negative temps. I took her to an area that isn't even a walking area and in the middle of the woods. The owner then drove on her golf cart, found my dogs poo and then came beating on my camper door and she drove while I walked to show me my dogs poo to pick it up. In the middle of the woods. A turd that was the size of my pinky finger. They claimed a "water main break" and charged full price rent for no water. Most campers left due to no water but they still had water at their house and the gross shower house. We were one day over what we paid and the owner and her son tried strong arming us to pay $55 for the extra night. Well due to the money she saved on the water bill from not having the water on for over a month, I figured she could use the water portion of the rent and put it towards the extra day. Instead she blocked our vehicle in and it took the cops telling her she couldn't do that before she finally moved her go cart. Super rude and believe they can do whatever they want on their property and don't have to follow normal laws. Would never recommend anyone to stay there.
Basic facilities at this RV park with a convenient location close to the interstate. One of the resident geese was showing off some new goslings in the pond. The bathrooms/showers were clean, but up an unlighted hillside. Wouldn't work for someone with limitations.
