Clean, quiet, and picturesque. This is a campground perfect for relaxing with family. The sites are spread out for privacy. Quite a few sites have beautiful views of the lake & mountains. There’s also tons of hiking trails in the area- some easy for family and some for the experienced hiker. The campground is paved, perfect for bikes and scooters. There’s a playground and rec hall. Plenty of very nice bathroom facilities… the nicest I’ve seen for a campground. The place is pet friendly, but we never saw any out of control or loud dogs. The campground and sites are very clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful! This campground embodies Maine’s motto: “vacationland”.
Aug 04, 2025 · Arianne SullivanThis campground is a magical place nestled in among Norwegian red pines. At night there are a million stars and you can hear the loons on the lake. The bathrooms are modern and the sites lovely. I went kayaking and saw a family of otters and many blue heron. If you have a family, there are lots of kids swimming and riding their bikes around. Last but not least, the service is outstanding. As someone who has traveled extensively, I will say the people who run this campground should be teaching a master class in hospitality.
Jul 30, 2025 · Micaela QuillPros: - Big sites - The campground was quiet and peaceful - The staff were nice - The water in the lake is shallow so it was warm. Lots of people were swimming at the beach - The bathroom building has 6 exterior doors and each leads to a private, individual bathroom room with a toilet, shower, and sink. - The rec room is big and well organized with games and puzzles (see photos) - We often heard loons and we saw an eagle, plus cute chipmunks and red squirrels Cons: - The “cathedral pines” don’t have lower branches so you can easily see through each site. You can see and hear your neighbors. - So. Many. Spiders. There were daddy long legs EVERYWHERE. All over our site, in the firewood, crawling on our tent, crawling on our feet. They were the worst in the bathrooms. The bathroom doors and door frames were covered in big spiders and they were crawling in the walls, ceiling, and windows. We asked around and were told that they are normally much worse, hundreds more spiders, especially later in the summer. I’ve never run into this before. If you are one of the unlucky people who are scared of spiders, this might not be the campground for you. - The pricing was odd. We were two couples and we don’t have a 4-person tent, we have two 2-person tents. Because we had 2 tents on our site, we had to pay double. We ended up paying almost $120 per night. I think if we had all fit in 1 tent or 1 RV we would’ve paid about $60 per night. The staff said this is to prevent loud groups. We probably won’t come back because of the cost, it’s only $20 per night at state parks!
Aug 20, 2025 · Erin ReedVery well spaced felt mostly private. Many many activities for kids and adults. Camp bathrooms always perfectly cleaned. Quiet was the key. Campfire grill and picnic table were nice. This is campground we have ever stayed at.
Jun 29, 2025 · David BowmanVery quiet location. Went a few years ago. The sites are level for those with a Camper or RV. There are many options available. There is a beach that is very nice, there are others not camping that have access to if for a small fee. So, this is a great place to camp or just do a day trip and picnic. I plan to do a camping trip this year for 3 days. My parents used to camp with their RV at least once per year. They loved it as well.
