These stickers can be purchased directly from the park office or online through the Wisconsin DNR website. Additionally, specific group campsite rates are typically offered, which can provide cost savings compared to booking multiple individual sites for a large gathering. It's always a good idea to check the Wisconsin DNR's official Council Grounds State Park page or contact the park directly before your visit. They can provide the most current information on fees, reservation policies, and any seasonal considerations that might impact your planning. Camped here mid-May. Sites didn't have good privacy, only because things hadn't greened up yet. Vault toilets were clean, modern and NOT stinky. Water services and dump station weren't available for use yet, but the lack of campers during the week made up for it. I would like to come back and see how different the nature trails are when the trees really get leaves. Pictures of the site #18.
May 13, 2025 · Tracy PaschkeBeautiful! Came here in October and the changing leaves were incredible. Plenty of trails to walk and playing down by the river is great. The sites are large and plenty of space between you and your neighbors. There are electric sites or primitive sites. Wisconsin does not allow generators in any of their state's parks so if you need electricity, make sure you get an electric site. It has a dump station with potable water also. There are pit toilets in areas and clean, free showers as well.
Oct 08, 2024 · CathyBeautiful trails near the Grandfather Falls section of the Ice Age trail were the main attraction here, supported by nice big private campsites, new bathrooms, single-stall lockable showers. Cell service is very poor in the campsites (both a pro and a con!) but when you have to connect, the area near the shelter house has shoreline benches and picnic tables where you can check in--just remember to check out quickly for hiking, biking, picnicking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. (Or just bring a good book!) This is a good park for relaxing and watching the squirrels collect pine cones.
