Customer Reviews
Beautiful trail around the lake. Beach is the same as it was in the 70's. Yes, that's good. Camping is still only $20.00/night. No water or electric, but still has an old hand-pump spigot. Endless small panfish from shore for all of the kids and kids at heart.
I've stayed here twice, a total of 7 days. Loved it. It's a smaller campground in a fairly remote, secluded setting but still a reasonably quick drive to a town with all the amenities. It's clean, professionally managed. The lake looks a bit above what you'd call small for the region, but if you canoe/kayak to the right of the campground, there's a channel that goes into a much larger part of the lake. Lot's to explore and a great kayak or canoe lake.
Great little county forest campground. No electric, pit toilets. Half the sites are tent only, the other half you can get a pop up or moderate sized camper/RV into. Not really for large RV's or Trailers. Most of the lake sites have road parking with a walk down to the tent pad, which is closer to the lake. Pretty nice for primitive sites. 5 or so of the sites are pretty close to each other. They feel like one larger site than 4-5 separate sites. (could be good for a small group.) Lake is nice and small. Perfect for kayaking and fishing. No motors allowed on lake. Swim area is clean. Only reason I have 4 stars is that this has a reputation (from other campers we spoke to,) to be a place for the local "kids," to come and party on weekends. There was a group here that partied till 2am with music and general 20yo loudness. Earplugs were required for sleep. (Thank goodness we always carry them when camping.) There is no Ranger or law enforcement present unless you call them, and cell coverage is pretty scarce here. Overall a good primitive campground that's off the beaten path a bit....with the one caveat.
Super busy whenever we camped in late July, but overall nice secluded woods if you can manage a spot away from others. Definitely bring bug spray, mosquitos are terrible.
Amazing!!!! This was my first kayaking tripand I was kind of scared but once I hit the water it was amazing except for when I tipped the kayak
