The Place is large, limited bath facilities was the only downside. Our trailer is self contained so no impact there. Sites were clean, spacious and well cared for. There were many seasonal campers, they love the place which is why they return year after year. There is much to do in the area, so our two week stay passed quickly. The on grounds tavern has some of the best food in the area. All in all, next time we will be in the area, this is where we will book.
Aug 05, 2025 · Bill BeckerGreat campground, easy drive to Acadia national park. Staff very helpful, gave us shuttle bus schedule and directed us to the new Gateway center for Acadia. There is a resturant on site which had weekly specials we were made aware if we wanted to try. Hope to come back next year
Sep 16, 2025 · Pam KoSpent a week including Labor Day weekend. I love this campground. Very convenient to Acadia and Bar Harbor. A couple of miles down the road is the wonderful Island Explorer bus stop and newly opened facilities. I recommend you take full advantage of this benefit as there is limited parking on Mt. Desert Island. Timberland has very friendly staff and great facilities. The sites come in all sizes. The restroom is very clean and I never had an issue using it or getting a hot shower. Their laundry room is huge, clean and they even have extra supplies in case you run out (Thank you Timberland Acres for the dryer sheet) I found this to be a very nice touch. They have a pool and tavern on site as well as firewood for sale. The WiFi is excellent. The location is not only convenient to Acadia National Park but also shopping and restaurants. On this trip I was camping solo but I image the memories so many families have made here are cherished. I will definitely return next year.
Sep 06, 2025 · Matt MynahanWonderful campground offering spacious accommodations and a relaxing experience. The campground is relatively flat, making setup with our 35’ camper quick and easy. Guests respect the 5 mph speed limit, which provides a safe environment for children to play and ride bicycles. Amenities on-site include laundry, bath-house (which I found to be clean but would suggest the addition of benches in the shower area), game-room/arcade (please add ping pong or some other cost free game!). Also, the pizza from the tavern was truly some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. That was the icing on the cake.
Jul 04, 2025 · Google UserThis is our first tent camping trip and Timberland Acres was the perfect launch! Our campsite was level, shaded, and an easy walk to all amenities and bathroom/showers. We ate lobster rolls at the Tavern and they were delicious! About 2.5 miles up the road is Gateway Center Drive (use GPS so you can find it as right now there is a lot of construction obscuring the entrance). This is where you park to get a free shuttle into Acadia NP and connect with other park shuttle bus routes-an excellent way to get around the park and back to camp. The camp staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had a great experience and will come again.
