Introduction / Overview
For New Hampshire families and outdoor enthusiasts seeking a serene and exceptionally clean camping experience in the Lakes Region, Davidson's Countryside Campground in Bristol is a highly recommended retreat. Located on a scenic hillside overlooking the beautiful Pemigewasset (Pemi) River, this campground offers a peaceful alternative to the "sheer chaos" often found at overly commercialized parks. It successfully balances a quiet, natural setting with thoughtful, family-friendly amenities, making it a favorite for both brief visits and extended stays.
Davidson's is built on a foundation of generous site sizing and a clear, well-maintained layout. While a significant portion of the grounds are dedicated to full-hookup seasonal sites—evidence of its popularity as a summer home base—the campground reserves ample space for transient visitors, including a limited number of full-hookup, water/electric, and beautifully shaded primitive tent sites. This dedication to accommodating diverse camping styles ensures that everyone, from RV owners with large rigs to families enjoying a simple tent setup in a quiet forest setting, can find their perfect New Hampshire escape. The consistently praised "amazing" and helpful staff truly elevate the experience, ensuring guests feel welcome and well-cared for from the moment they check in. The neighboring cow farm adds a perfect touch of authentic country charm to the already peaceful environment.
Location and Accessibility
Davidson's Countryside Campground is advantageously situated at 100 Schofield Rd, Bristol, NH 03222, USA. This location places it perfectly within the New Hampshire Lakes Region, offering easy access to some of the state’s most celebrated natural attractions. It is only about a 10-minute drive from the stunning Newfound Lake and is near other points of interest like Wellington State Park, Sculptured Rocks, and Sawhegenet Falls.

From the Interstate, you travel approximately 1.5 miles west on Route 104, and then about a half-mile north on River Road to reach the campground entrance. Once on the property, the campground’s layout is defined by a larger hillside—a unique feature that provides many sites, especially the pool area, with serene views across the river to small, distant mountaintops. The setting directly on the Pemigewasset River also provides a calm, accessible waterfront experience, distinguishing it as a premier destination for local river enthusiasts.

This may just be my new favorite campground! We came across this campground by accident. We were staying at another campground nearby for its kid-oriented activities and the place was just sheer chaos. We were unable to stand it, so we took a drive by Davidson's to see if by chance they had availability last minute. We felt so lucky they had couple of Water and Electric sites available in the middle of the field on this larger hillside campground. The campground is nicely laid out, with generous sites (most are full hook-up seasonals, with only a limited number of full hookups, water/electric and primitive tent sites besides). Some sites are in the field, while others in a wooded area. The pool at the top of the hill was pristine and offered a serene view across the river to the small mountaintops in the distance. The river access had both a small sandy beach on a wide segment of the Pemi, as well as boat ramp access. They offer kayak rentals, but we did not have the chance to take advantage of these during our brief stay. I did take my inflatable paddle board out on the river and it was very calm and peaceful. Note that several of the riverside seasonal sites do have small docks with pontoon boats, but very few people seemed to be around this weekend. They had a BBQ potluck event scheduled in the barn. Reservations were required, and as this hadn't been our original plan, we didn't partake, but I love the concept. There is also a newer playground structure that may 8 year old enjoyed. The park is very quiet, and while there are many golf carts (helpful with some of the steeper hills), they're all electric and we had no disturbance from them. The restrooms were also very clean, though the showers are coin operated. It was a peaceful, serene setting, with a cow farm neighboring the property. The staff was also excellent - a big thank you to the ladies in the office letting us take a quick look when we stopped by! We have already recommended this campground to others. We look forward to returning to this quaint campground - hopefully in the near future.
Jul 28, 2025 · Pat LaganiereWhat a great campground. We stayed for a week with our 2 year old daughter and were assigned a tent site that was absolutely perfect, lots of shadow, lots of space, beautiful forest, very quiet. The campground is located on a nice spot on the river (which is beautiful) with a little beach to swim, that we had to ourselves a couple of times. We had some rain this week, and were happy with the indoor space with a play room (toys, books) and some fun craft activities with the staff. Staff is amazing! So helpful, super friendly, checking in with us all the time. The only (minor) thing for improvement is there aren't any facilities to do dishes, apart from the general (cold water) faucets in between camp sites. It worked out fine for the week. Bathrooms were nice, and spotless. Good swimming and hiking opportunities in the area too.
Aug 11, 2024 · Sterre BoerkampI know they are good people. I can't answer to rooms or service. I only hauled material in for the expansion project with a tri axle. I personally hate camping so that's why I could only rate the location.
Jul 05, 2025 · Brian BixbyThis place is amazing! They got us in very last minute after a bad experience at another campground, and we are so grateful. We wanted a vacation for my birthday weekend and were not disappointed! So quiet, peaceful, and beautiful here! Will definitely be coming back here! The staff is absolutely amazing, so kind and helpful!
