As Long Shoal Campground is primarily managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and operates through platforms like Recreation.gov, the concept of "promotions" or "special offers" differs from a privately owned business. You typically won't find flash sales or discount codes in the traditional retail sense. However, the value provided through their pricing structure and included amenities is consistently strong.
Here’s what you can generally expect regarding pricing and potential ways to optimize your stay:
- Standardized Daily Rates: Campsite fees are typically set and publicly available on Recreation.gov. The price will vary based on the type of site (primitive, 30-amp electric, 50-amp electric with water, full hookup) and the specific amenities available at that site. One review noted a "basic site under $20," indicating competitive pricing for simpler options.
- Seasonal Pricing and Availability: Like many Corps of Engineers campgrounds, full services (like flush toilets and showers) are seasonal, typically available from around April 1st to October 31st. During the "shoulder" or off-season, sites might be available at reduced rates (sometimes self-payment at a fee vault), though facilities may be limited (e.g., only pit toilets, water hydrants turned off).
- Federal Pass Discounts: Holders of certain federal passes, such as the America the Beautiful – National Parks & Federal Recreational Lands Senior Pass or Access Pass, may be eligible for discounts on camping fees. It's always advisable to check the specific discount policies on Recreation.gov.
- Value-Added Amenities Included: The listed price for a site generally includes access to all the park's amenities, such as clean bathhouses with hot showers, laundry facilities, a dump station, drinking water, the playground, and the swimming beach. This comprehensive offering provides significant value for the standard rate.
- Reservations Recommended: Especially during peak season (typically April 15 - September 30), online reservations via Recreation.gov are strongly recommended, if not required, to secure your desired site.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date pricing for your specific dates and site preference, and to learn about any current operational details, the best approach is to visit the Long Shoal Campground page on Recreation.gov or contact the park directly.

Customer Reviews
Beautiful pull through lots at the lake. Entire campground is clean and well maintained. Several bathrooms and showers throughout the place.
Very nice campground for tent camping and RVs. Clean bathouse w hot showers and laundry. Sites are close to the water for fishing. Pretty views of Truman lake & it's great location makes this place fantastic! This was my 5th time staying here. Basic site under $20.
This was definitely worth the drive. We were meeting up with a few other campers. There wasn’t anyone at the booth when we arrived a little before 4pm, but the sign had instructions on early check-Ins. Basically, if there isn’t someone still in your spot, you can check in early. Otherwise, check in is at 6pm. My only real complaint here was the lack of signage on each loop. We pulled in to the first loop looking for our spots (040, 043, & 045) but the first loop wasn’t ours. Pulled into the next loop and found them. Other than the pole markers at each individual spot, there’s no signs telling you which numbers are down each loop. Better signage would prevent confusion in the future. Our trailer sizes were from 33’ to about 40’. Each of us were able to back our campers in with ease and no obstructions. Most spots are fairly level but are gravel so some require additional leveling than others. There aren’t a lot of electric hookup spots here and I believe all are 30amp. There are no water hookups but there is a fill station and water spouts located in various parts of the grounds. The grounds were very well kept! Lawns were mowed but there was still enough trees and natural landscaping that keeps the “camping” feel alive. If you’re lucky enough to get a water view, the views are stunning. This isn’t an overpopulated lake, so you’re looking at a pristine glass-like lake surface in the mornings. Absolutely beautiful. The beach is really large! Not a lot of shade but nothing that a beach umbrella or canopy wouldn’t fix. The ramp (if you’re dropping in) is easy to find and well marked. Parking is plentiful for boat trailers. Marina Restaurant : We always bring plenty of food when camping but some friends suggested that we try out the Long Shoal Marina restaurant. Our first night here we had heard they were doing a seafood buffet special so we tried it out. The parking is a little ways from the restaurant but there is also closer parking for disabled and people over 65. My kids enjoyed the walk down the bridge anyway. The facility is well kept, clean, and the staff is friendly. For the buffet, they required that you sanitize hands and then place food service gloves on before handling serving utensils (sanitizer and gloves are provided). If buffet isn’t your thing, they also have a regular menu (see menu pictures). There is also a selection of alcoholic drinks available. The indoor/outdoor seating options are a really nice touch! We enjoyed the buffet and my kids enjoyed mini corn dogs and fries. Everyone was pleased with their food. Marina store: within the same building as the restaurant, there’s a small store with various items for sale. We’ve already talked about booking future spots here. This is now in my top three favorite camping locations. Well done, Long Shoal!
Camped there for a week in a tent and it was absolutely wonderful... The staff are so nice and the bathrooms are always clean, the park looks so beautiful. And you can walk right down to the water
This was the best camping experience I've ever had. There is plenty of privacy and comfort. Nature at its best. I want to go back
