New London offers a quintessential small-town feel, providing a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of larger urban centers, while still maintaining essential amenities and services for residents and visitors.

The campground's location directly on US-250 is a significant advantage for accessibility. US-250 is a well-traveled highway that connects various communities throughout northern Ohio, facilitating straightforward travel for campers arriving from different parts of the state. For instance, the campground is within a reasonable driving distance of major Ohio cities like Cleveland and Toledo, offering opportunities for day trips to explore their cultural sites, sporting events, and dining scenes. Additionally, the proximity to US-250 provides convenient access to popular regional destinations such as Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, a major draw for thrill-seekers and families alike, as well as the Lake Erie islands.

The ease of access via a major state route ensures a less stressful journey, allowing campers to quickly settle in and begin enjoying their outdoor experience.

Services Offered

While a comprehensive, itemized list of all services directly provided by Indian Trail Campground is not extensively detailed in the provided information, campgrounds generally offer a range of services designed to accommodate various types of campers and enhance their stay. Based on standard campground operations in Ohio, Indian Trail Campground would typically provide the following:

  • Diverse Campsite Options: Campgrounds usually offer a variety of sites to cater to different needs. This often includes:
    • RV Sites: Accommodating various sizes of recreational vehicles, potentially with different levels of hookups (e.g., electric, water, sewer).
    • Tent Sites: Dedicated areas for traditional tent camping.
    • Cabin Rentals: Some campgrounds, including those aiming for broader appeal, offer cabin accommodations for those seeking a more comfortable or less rustic experience.
  • Restroom Facilities: Access to communal restrooms, often with flush toilets and sinks. One review noted that "The women’s bathrooms were clean," which is a positive indicator for cleanliness standards.
  • Shower Facilities: Providing hot showers for campers, an essential amenity for comfort, particularly after outdoor activities.
  • Fire Rings/Pits: Available at individual sites for campfires, a quintessential part of the camping experience.
  • Picnic Tables: Provided at each campsite for outdoor dining and gathering.
  • On-site Staff: Presence of staff for check-in, assistance with inquiries, and general oversight of the campground. One review mentioned "Nice staff" and that they "did offer to move us," indicating a willingness to assist campers.

It is important to note that while services are generally offered, the quality of these services can impact the overall experience. One review highlighted concerns about noise levels and the enforcement of quiet hours, suggesting that while services like staff availability are present, their implementation in maintaining a specific atmosphere might vary. Prospective campers are encouraged to contact Indian Trail Campground directly for the most precise and up-to-date information on all services offered, their availability, and any associated fees.

Features / Highlights

Understanding the specific features and highlights of Indian Trail Campground is crucial for prospective campers in Ohio to determine if it aligns with their expectations for a camping experience. Based on the provided customer reviews, several key aspects of the campground can be highlighted:

  • Friendly and Accommodating Staff: A consistent positive highlight from both reviews is the "Nice staff" who were "very friendly and did offer to move us." This indicates a customer service orientation and a willingness to assist campers, which is a valuable asset for any hospitality business.
  • Proximity to New London: Its location in New London offers a quiet, small-town setting, potentially appealing to those looking to escape the intensity of urban life, though the internal campground atmosphere may differ.
  • Accessibility via US-250: Being directly on a major US highway means easy access for RVs and vehicles, making arrival and departure straightforward. This also places it within reasonable driving distance of other Ohio attractions.
  • Potential for a Lively Atmosphere: While a significant point of concern for some, the reviews strongly suggest that Indian Trail Campground can be a very lively and high-energy environment, particularly during evenings. Terms like "party place," "concert venue," "extremely loud music," and "drunken adults" indicate that for those who seek a vibrant, social, and less regulated atmosphere, this could be seen as a feature rather than a drawback. The presence of "Drunk Campers Matter" flags (as described by a reviewer) further reinforces this perception.

It is crucial for potential campers to consider the nature of these highlights. The reviews indicate that the campground is "NOT a family campground by a long shot" and lacks "peace and quiet," with noise continuing until "close to 2 am" and golf carts being driven at "all hours" by "drunken adults." Quiet hours (11 pm) were "not at all enforced." Additionally, site sizes were noted as "very small," with fire rings only "5 feet from the side of our camper." This suggests that while it may offer a place for social gatherings and loud entertainment, it may not be suitable for those seeking a tranquil, family-oriented, or spacious camping experience. The management's perceived "no concern of the bad reviews" about noise suggests that this lively atmosphere might be implicitly, if not explicitly, permitted.

Therefore, if a loud, social, and party-centric environment is what a camper is looking for, these aspects could be seen as highlights. However, if peace, quiet, family-friendliness, and strict enforcement of rules are priorities, these "highlights" would likely be significant deterrents.

Conclusion: Why Indian Trail Campground is Suitable for Locals

For Ohio residents, Indian Trail Campground in New London presents a unique camping option, particularly for those whose preferences align with a specific kind of outdoor experience. Its suitability for locals hinges on understanding its distinctive atmosphere and embracing its particular highlights.

The campground's location on US-250 in New London offers excellent accessibility from various parts of Ohio, making it a convenient destination for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation without extensive travel. Its proximity allows Ohio locals to easily access a more rural setting while still being within reasonable driving distance of larger cities like Cleveland and Toledo, as well as popular attractions such as Cedar Point. This balance of natural escape and regional connectivity is often a key factor for Ohioans planning their leisure activities.

However, the most defining characteristic of Indian Trail Campground, as heavily emphasized by recent customer reviews, is its lively and often boisterous atmosphere. Described as a "party place" where quiet hours are "NOT enforced" and loud music and intoxicated adults are prevalent until the early hours, this campground caters to a specific demographic. For Ohio residents who prioritize a highly social, unrestrained, and energetic camping experience—where loud music, late-night gatherings, and a general festive environment are desirable—Indian Trail Campground could be an ideal fit. If your idea of camping involves loud activities, mingling with a "bar crowd types," and less emphasis on tranquility, then this campground might very well be your preferred destination. The consistent positive feedback on staff friendliness, despite the noise complaints, suggests that management aims to be accommodating within this particular operational model.

Conversely, it is critically important for Ohio families with young children, individuals seeking peace and quiet, or campers expecting strict adherence to quiet hours and family-friendly rules, to carefully consider the explicit feedback regarding noise levels and site proximity. For these campers, Indian Trail Campground may not be the most suitable choice, as it appears to lean heavily towards a vibrant, adult-oriented social scene rather than a traditional tranquil family retreat.

In conclusion, Indian Trail Campground is suitable for Ohio locals who are specifically looking for a high-energy, social, and potentially loud camping environment where the emphasis is on a lively party atmosphere rather than quiet relaxation. It offers convenient access and friendly staff, but its core "vibe" as a "party place" makes it a niche choice within Ohio's diverse camping landscape. Prospective campers are strongly advised to contact the campground directly to discuss their expectations for noise and atmosphere before booking, ensuring their camping experience aligns perfectly with what Indian Trail Campground offers.

Nice staff, nice facility...HOWEVER. Curfew is NOT inforced. Way, way too many, loud, obnoxious, I need attention, make thier presence known, fowl mouth, drunk, bar crowd types. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️ NOT a family campground by a long shot. Just a party place. No piece and quiet. All the hype I've heard is over rated. And the fact they have no concern of the bad reviews tells you; you don't stop it, you allow it. If the money is rolling in, who cares.

Unfortunately we ended up only staying one night at this campground. We left early due to the noise level and all around vibe at this campground. At 10:30pm it felt like we were camping at a concert venue. Campers next to us, behind us and in front of us all had extremely loud music, and 8+ loud intoxicated adults at each site. Golf carts driving by at all hours (by the same drunken adults.) The 11pm quit hour was not at all enforced and this continued until close to 2am. The site are also very small. The neighbors fire ring was only 5 feet from the side of our camper. Should have taken the multiple "drunk campers matter" flags as a sign and never even set up but I wanted to give it a try. The positive is that the staff was very friendly and did offer to move us, but from how much noise I heard overnight, I didnt feel like moving down 5 sites really would have decreased the noise that much.

Lots of seasonal campers, but also plenty of spots for nightly guests. The staff was very friendly and accommodating even given my unpredictable travel schedule. My site was pretty level and nice and quiet. Nightly rates were very reasonable.

The campground itself was nice and the bathhouse was very clean. The staff while new and inexperienced were very nice. My biggest complaint here is that curfew is not enforced. At our most recent stay, there was a group blaring music until 12-1 o'clock in the morning, so we were up a good majority of the night. If looking into the cabins, be aware that they are very small. We rented the 8 person cabin which was a tiny room. There was 1 twin bed with three bunkbeds and minimal standing room. This was talked up to be a little bigger than it was.

Our family was looking for a last minute place to stay. They accommodated us with a private area to ourselves. We only were able to stay one night and left late in the afternoon the next day. The updated restrooms/showers were perfect and adorable. The shower pressure was amazing and the water was nice and hot. They also had a laundry room with two washers and dryers if needed. We took advantage of getting our Laundry done there. It was 1.50 in quarters to run the washer and 1.00 to run the dryer. The campground was so quiet, we felt like we were the loud ones with our two children . Our son loved the extra large sandbox filled with all the toys. There were small walking path. We did not get to enjoy the pool or take the boats out on the lake, during our short stay. We highly recommend this campsite.
