This simple yet inviting park and campground provides a cozy haven for campers, blending essential amenities with a natural setting ripe for relaxation and observation. It’s a place where the sounds of wildlife often take precedence, and the night sky reveals its starry splendor, making it an ideal choice for those who appreciate the quieter side of Minnesota’s beautiful landscape.

As one satisfied camper described, "Nice cozy area secluded from the road. It gets really windy and manure season passes by it but not too strong of smell. The primitive sites are cozy with lots of wildlife and you can hear big packs of coyotes from the quiet trains off in the distance. Star gazing is good but the light posts are super bright so keep that in mind. They have a dump near the bathrooms with a giant wheelchair accessible single shower/bathrooms however the water in the mens shower is very smelly and has strong metal, the lights are on a 10 minute timer aswell. Water hook ups are good quality and electric works great. Overall nice stay for our 2 weeks." Another reviewer highlighted family-friendly aspects: "A simple park and campground with a unique culvert play structure that our younger kids enjoyed. Picnic shelters, frisbee golf course, river boat access." These insights paint a clear picture of Kuhar Park: a functional, serene, and nature-rich destination perfect for a Minnesota escape.

  • Picnic Shelters: Several picnic shelters are present, offering shaded areas for gatherings, meals, or a respite from the sun.

  • Unique Culvert Play Structure: For families with younger children, a "unique culvert play structure" offers a distinctive and engaging play area, setting it apart from standard playgrounds.
  • Frisbee Golf Course: An on-site frisbee golf course provides a fun and accessible recreational activity for campers of all ages, adding an extra layer of entertainment to the stay.
  • Cottonwood River Access: Direct access to the Cottonwood River is a significant highlight for those interested in fishing, paddling, or simply enjoying the tranquil riverine environment.

  • Affordable & Flexible Stays: The competitive pricing structure (e.g., $20/night, $120/week, $325/month as of 2021) and the first-come, first-served policy make it an attractive option for budget-conscious and spontaneous campers.

These features collectively create a unique identity for Kuhar Park, appealing to those who seek tranquility, nature, and simple recreational pleasures.

Kuhar Park Campground, being a municipal or county-run facility operating on a first-come, first-served basis, primarily offers its value through its consistent and affordable pricing rather than frequent, complex promotional offers. The transparent fee structure makes it easy for Minnesota locals to plan their budget for a stay.

As of 2021, the reported camping fees were:

  • $20 per night
  • $120 per week
  • $325 per month

These rates represent a competitive and appealing price point for campers seeking a long-term stay or extended vacation without breaking the bank. The weekly and monthly rates, in particular, offer significant savings compared to daily rates, acting as an implicit "promotion" for longer visits.

While specific, time-limited discounts are not typically advertised for parks of this nature, the consistent affordability and the convenience of its first-come, first-served policy are major draws. Campers should always confirm the most current pricing directly with Kuhar Park or the managing entity (likely the City of Lamberton Parks and Recreation Department) prior to their visit, as rates can be subject to change. The true value proposition of Kuhar Park lies in its ability to provide a peaceful, amenity-rich (with hookups), and wildlife-filled camping experience at a very accessible price point for Minnesota residents.

A simple park and campground with a unique culvert play structure that our younger kids enjoyed. Picnic shelters, frisbee golf course, river boat access. When we stopped in early June around sunset, there were lots of no-see-ums and some flies, so bring bug spray. Ten concrete pad camp sites with water/electric and a restroom/shower building. In 2021, camping fees are $20/night, $120/week, or $325/month; first-come first serve.
