Lake Wedington Campground About
For those of us in Arkansas seeking a true escape into nature, a peaceful family camping trip, or an exhilarating mountain biking adventure, Lake Wedington Campground in Fayetteville offers an unparalleled experience. Nestled within the scenic Ozark-St. Francis National Forests, this beloved destination is part of the larger Lake Wedington Recreation Area, a place where natural beauty and outdoor activity converge to create memorable moments. It’s a spot where the tranquil waters of Lake Wedington provide a serene backdrop for a wide array of recreational pursuits.
Lake Wedington Recreation Area holds a special place in Arkansas's history, with facilities originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the 1930s. Today, it continues to serve as a vital outdoor hub, offering more than just traditional camping. Visitors have praised its "very beautiful and very scenic" qualities, highlighting the "amazing" flowing waterfall when the lake is full, and the "amazing shape" of its trails even after heavy rain. These natural wonders create a truly immersive outdoor experience for locals and visitors alike.
While a past review noted some temporary facility closures due to COVID-19, it's clear that the core natural attractions remained vibrant and enjoyable. The park is praised for its "quiet campground" and "large tent pads," with staff noted as "very friendly," and the lake just "a few steps away." The surprising discovery of "rustic cabins to rent in addition to their standard camping" adds another layer of appeal, offering diverse accommodation options for different preferences.
However, some reviews mention the need for better maintenance in certain areas, such as mowing and clearing brush that blocks views from spots like the gazebo. These minor points of feedback highlight areas of ongoing attention for park management. Despite these, the overwhelmingly positive experiences, particularly regarding the beauty of the trails and the overall peaceful atmosphere, reinforce Lake Wedington's reputation as a highly recommended destination.
Whether you’re an avid mountain biker, a family looking for a serene place to camp, or someone simply wishing to immerse themselves in Arkansas’s stunning natural landscapes, Lake Wedington Campground is a highly recommended destination. This article will delve into what makes this spot so special, from its location to its myriad offerings, helping you plan your next unforgettable Arkansas adventure.

Customer Reviews
This place was open to the public for use but the facilities were closed due to COVID-19 still so couldn't try it all. Came for a mountain bike ride with my wife and it didn't disappoint! Very beautiful and very scenic place to visit. We were surprised to find out they actually have rustic cabins to rent in addition to their standard camping. The lake was full when we visited so the waterfall was flowing amazingly! The trail was in amazing shape as well and despite having a heavy rain the day before it was dry enough and just perfectly tacky. I would have given it 5 stars but the park needed some help in the mowing department. We also rodebup to the gazebo but the view was blocked by brush and saplings. I'm definitely going to make more trips to this place once the park is open completely. I might even buy a boat so I can make use of their small boat ramp. Super fun place to visit! Highly recommend it.
My wife and two young children really enjoyed camping here. It's a quiet campground, large tent pads, staff is very friendly, lake is just a few steps away, and a beautiful trail around the lake.
Really peaceful and nice place. The trail is kinda short and thus not the best hiking choice. But camping is really great here.
Awesome place to fish or go hike the trails they have a boat dock as well.
Always such a nice and beautiful place! The trail is great and it's good for fishing as well!
