For Minnesotans who love to explore the natural beauty of our state in the comfort of their RV, Nickerson RV Campground in Holyoke, MN, presents a unique option. Situated in the tranquil northern part of Minnesota, this campground caters specifically to the RV community, offering a base for extended stays and a quiet retreat from the everyday hustle. While it might not be the flashiest destination, it offers a functional and often peaceful environment for those who seek a simpler, long-term camping experience.
Nickerson RV Campground has garnered varied feedback from its visitors, shedding light on different aspects of its operation. One notable experience shared was a camper being turned away based on the year of their RV, despite it being a well-maintained and extensively remodeled 1986 model. This suggests a potential policy regarding RV age, which prospective campers with older, yet well-kept, vehicles should be aware of.
Another detailed review highlights a "full season with no issues," indicating a positive long-term stay for some. However, a concerning incident involving a camper driving fast, followed by vandalism to the reviewer's trailer (cut lights and brake lines), led to their decision not to return. The owner's explanation of potential copper theft suggests a possible security concern. This review also points out a potential lack of amenities for children, noting "nothing for kids to do (playground, etc.)" unless things have changed in recent years. Despite these significant concerns for some, the reviewer did mention that the "sites not bad," indicating a functional camping space. Overall, the campground appears to cater more towards a quieter, potentially adult-oriented seasonal RV community, where the sites themselves are generally adequate, but factors like specific RV age policies, security, and kid-friendly amenities might be considerations for different types of campers.
Nickerson RV Campground is located at 2142 County Line Rd, Holyoke, MN 55749, USA. This address places it in the quiet, northern region of Minnesota, offering a more secluded and rural camping experience compared to areas closer to major metropolitan hubs. Holyoke itself is a small, unincorporated community in Carlton County, known for its natural surroundings.
For Minnesotans, reaching Holyoke typically involves travel on state highways that lead into the northern part of the state. While not directly off a major interstate, its location on County Line Road suggests a straightforward approach once in the area. This setting is ideal for those looking to get away from urban noise and embrace the peace of northern Minnesota. It serves as a base for exploring the forests, lakes, and trails that characterize this region. Given the potential for long-term stays, the accessibility to this tranquil area allows RVers to settle in and truly enjoy an extended period in nature.
Based on the provided customer reviews, specific promotions or special offers for Nickerson RV Campground are not mentioned. Given the nature of some of the feedback, particularly concerning RV age policies and security incidents, the campground's operational focus may be more on managing its existing seasonal clientele and maintaining its functional sites rather than actively running promotions to attract new, short-term visitors.
As an RV campground that appears to cater to longer stays, their "special offers" might come in the form of competitive seasonal rates rather than daily or weekly discounts. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on pricing, seasonal rates, or any specific policies (such as RV age requirements), it is highly recommended that prospective campers contact Nickerson RV Campground directly. This direct communication will allow them to clarify any concerns and understand the best fit for their camping needs.

Its quiet, rural setting provides a true "getaway" feel, allowing campers to immerse themselves in the tranquility of northern Minnesota.
However, it's crucial for Minnesotans considering this campground to be aware of the feedback from previous visitors. Potential policies regarding RV age should be clarified directly with management before arrival, especially for well-maintained older models. Additionally, if traveling with children, it's important to note the expressed lack of kid-centric amenities like playgrounds, suggesting it might be better suited for adult campers or families who create their own entertainment. The reported security incident also warrants consideration for anyone planning a long-term stay.
In summary, Nickerson RV Campground appears to be most suitable for adult Minnesotan RV owners seeking a quiet, functional, and potentially seasonal spot in northern Minnesota, who are comfortable with a more hands-off approach to amenities and are prepared to clarify specific policies directly with the campground. It offers a no-frills, peaceful base for those who primarily seek a place to park their RV and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Never even asked to see what our camper looks like just said no based on year. It's a 1986 but has been well maintained 1 owner looks nice out side and totally remodeled inside.
Mar 17, 2023 · JoshSpent one full season with no issues. Second season, before the fall packup, had an issue with a camper driving through very fast. Asked person to slow down as I had my kids and nieces and nephews out biking. Return to site 2 weeks later and camper lights and brake lines are cut. Owner states it was probably someone steeling copper. Either way, want no part of that. Did not return for and half of season. Family and friends pulled out not long after. Sites not bad, but I will not return due to damage done to my trailer. Also, nothing for kids to do, unless that has changed over the last couple of years (playground, etc)
May 03, 2018 · Adam PecoreThis Campground is ok as of right now there's a lot of complainers there that whine about every little thing, if your dog barks once, if you're going a little too fast around the park. The amenities are good there's hot showers bathroom with the sink. There is water hookups and sewage dump right at your rv camp site.
