Location and Accessibility

The Place RV Park is strategically located at 1866 IA-141, Sloan, IA 51055, USA. This address places it just off Iowa Highway 141, providing easy access for RVs of all sizes. Sloan, Iowa, is situated in Western Iowa, close to the Missouri River and Interstate 29, which is a major north-south artery for cross-country travelers. Its proximity to I-29 makes it an exceptionally convenient pull-off point for those traveling long distances, as highlighted by a travel nurse who found it perfectly situated after battling strong winds.

The park's location is also notable for its immediate surroundings. One reviewer specifically mentioned finding the RV park "right at" a convenience store next door, offering immediate access to basic supplies and fuel. Furthermore, a Dollar General store is located "a mile or so down the road," providing a more extensive range of necessities. While it might be a small town, Sloan's position along a state highway ensures good road conditions for accessing the park. The ease of pulling off the main road and navigating directly to the park is a significant advantage, particularly for larger rigs or those arriving after dark.

Services Offered

The Place RV Park focuses on providing essential and practical services designed to make RV stays comfortable and convenient for travelers.

  • RV Sites (Pull-Through & Shaded): The park offers a variety of RV sites, including pull-through options that are long enough for campers to avoid unhitching their tow vehicles, which is a significant time-saver for overnight stays. Sites are also noted to be shaded, providing relief from the sun.
  • Fairly Level Sites: Campers have reported that the sites are "fairly level," minimizing the effort required for leveling an RV upon arrival.
  • Full Hookups (Water, Electric, Sewer): The park provides full hookup sites. While one reviewer noted that the sewer hookup might be in a "hard spot to reach" requiring two hoses, the service itself is available. This means campers have access to water, electricity, and sewer connections directly at their site.
  • On-Site Laundry: A convenient on-site laundry facility is available, a major plus for travelers needing to refresh their wardrobe during longer journeys.
  • Convenience Store Next Door: Direct access to a neighboring convenience store offers immediate availability of snacks, drinks, and basic supplies.
  • Affordable Daily Rates: Reviews indicate a competitive daily rate, with one mentioning it was "$35 for the night," positioning it as an economical choice for a quick stop.
  • Friendly Management/Service: The lady who runs the park has been described as "very nice" and the service at the adjacent restaurant was also noted as "nice," indicating a welcoming and hospitable environment.
  • Adjacent Restaurant/Diner: There is a restaurant described as a "little dive" next door. While the food might not be homemade, it was noted as "good and cheap," offering a convenient dining option without having to drive.

Features / Highlights

  • Exceptional Convenience for Travelers: The primary highlight is its excellent convenience for those on the road. Its location just off IA-141 and proximity to I-29 makes it an ideal stopover, especially for long-haul RVers.
  • Effortless Set-Up: The combination of pull-through sites that are long enough not to require unhitching, and sites that are "fairly level," significantly reduces the effort and time involved in setting up and breaking down camp.
  • On-Site Amenities: The presence of an on-site laundry facility, a neighboring convenience store, and an adjacent restaurant means that essential needs are met without needing to drive far from the park.
  • Shaded Sites: Shaded sites are a valuable feature, offering comfort during warmer months and potentially reducing the need for continuous air conditioning.
  • Affordable and Good Value: At around $35 per night, the park offers good value for full hookup sites, especially considering the convenience and amenities provided.
  • Friendly and Welcoming Atmosphere: The positive comments about the "very nice" management and service contribute to a welcoming environment, making campers feel comfortable and at ease.
  • Pet-Friendly (Implied): While not explicitly stated in reviews, most RV parks are pet-friendly, and the nature of an RV stopover suggests it would accommodate furry companions, though it's always best to confirm specific policies.
  • Proximity to Basic Shopping: The Dollar General nearby ensures that campers can easily pick up a wider range of groceries and supplies beyond what the convenience store offers.

Promotions or Special Offers

The Place RV Park, based on the provided customer reviews, appears to focus on offering consistent, competitive daily rates rather than complex promotional schemes.

  • Consistent Affordable Daily Rate: The $35 per night rate mentioned in a review stands out as a straightforward and appealing offer for travelers looking for a good value without hidden fees. This transparent pricing is often a "promotion" in itself for budget-conscious RVers.
  • Value for Long Stays (Implied): While not explicitly stated, the travel nurse's wish to "have stayed longer" due to the park's convenience and amenities suggests that its inherent value extends beyond just a one-night stop, potentially making it suitable for longer stays at the attractive daily rate.
  • No Need to Unhitch: While a feature, the availability of pull-through sites long enough for unhitched rigs saves significant time and effort, which can be seen as an added value for travelers.

For the most current pricing and any potential unadvertised special offers for longer stays, it is always recommended to contact The Place RV Park directly. Their clear and concise pricing likely makes for a simple booking process.

I'm a travel nurse, so I go everywhere and I have stayed in a ton of rv parks. I was traveling from North Dakota home to Alabama and the wind just got worse and worse. Ipulled off in Sloan Iowa. I didn't know it but I was right at the rv park. I called , she had a space, so I took it. The site was shaded, fairly level and a pull through site long enough that I dint have to unhitch. Due to wind I stayed 3 nights, I honestly wish I could have stayed longer. There is a convenience store next door, a dollar general a mile or so down the road, and a laundry on site. You may need a longer sewer hose depending on site, but otherwise it's great.

It was okay for a night. The sights were small but sufficient. The sewer is in a hard spot to teach, so had to use 2 houses. The lady who runs it was very nice and it was only $35 for the night. Restaurant was just a little dive. Food was not homemade, but was good and cheap. Service was nice. I would stay again for a one nighter.

Most poorly priced RV park I have ever dealt with doesnt even have a shower house and gravel sites. Its an awful mess pulling out of there when its raining. For 625 a month I could get the same conditions living somewhere else for alot cheaper. Owners are nice enough but that area in general is a poor place to live in. So much more to the country other than that small town in Iowa. Nice restaurant and bar.

Food was top notch. The RV park wasn't that great . Sites are small. Trees need a good trimming. I wouldn't suggest anything bigger than a 36' long as it was difficult getting my 38' 5th wheel though there.
