Oak Point Campground offers just such an opportunity, providing a straightforward and affordably priced lakeside experience that attracts a consistent crowd.
Kansas, often celebrated for its wide-open spaces and beautiful state parks, provides numerous options for outdoor enthusiasts. Campgrounds like Oak Point play a crucial role in making these natural treasures accessible to local families and individuals. What defines Oak Point Campground is its focus on providing essential camping amenities at a reasonable price, particularly highlighted by its "Basic site 17 on the water was not bad and reasonably priced." This value proposition makes it a popular choice for those who prioritize budget-friendly access to lake activities and scenic views.
While some aspects of the campground experience, such as site spacing and the location of shower facilities, might be characteristic of a well-utilized public park, Oak Point remains a go-to spot for many due to its direct access to the water and its overall affordability. It’s a place where you can enjoy the fresh air, potentially engage in water-based recreation, and experience the communal atmosphere of a bustling campground. Whether you're looking for a quick, convenient camping trip or a longer, budget-conscious stay by the lake, Oak Point Campground offers a functional and engaging outdoor retreat for locals across Kansas.

Farlington itself is a small community, indicating that the campground is located within a natural area, most likely as part of or adjacent to Crawford State Park, given the common phone number shared with Rocky Cove Campground (another site managed by a state park entity). This setting offers campers a serene environment away from urban congestion.
The accessibility of Oak Point Campground for Kansans is generally good, facilitated by state and county roads that lead to the park. For those traveling from major population centers in Kansas, such as Pittsburg (the largest city in Southeast Kansas), or from areas further north like Topeka or Kansas City, the drive would typically involve picturesque routes through rural landscapes.
Being a lakeside campground, its location offers direct access to water-based activities, which is a major draw. While specific directions were not provided beyond the address, the general infrastructure supporting state parks usually ensures clear signage and maintained access roads for RVs and towing vehicles. Campers should be aware that popular campgrounds, particularly those associated with state parks, can be "pretty crowded," especially during peak seasons. The mention of "not much space between sites" suggests a more communal camping experience, typical of well-utilized parks. Despite this, the direct access to the water, likely for fishing, boating, or swimming, makes the location highly desirable for those seeking aquatic recreation in a convenient setting within Kansas.

Customer Reviews
Not sure why the state park decided to hire a guy with a truck with a with "I'd rather be Cummin' than strokin'" decal. Very unprofessional & embarrassing. Should have been fired.
Basic site 17 on the water was not bad and reasonably priced. Campground was pretty crowded with not much space between sites. Shower building not centrally located. Could not gather firewood either.
