This article is designed to be a comprehensive guide to Paint Creek State Park Campground, providing factual and engaging insights into its location, the services it provides, its unique features, and why it's a suitable choice for local Ohio users. We aim to highlight what makes this campground a rewarding place to visit, from its convenient amenities to its quiet surroundings, helping you plan your next memorable outdoor adventure in Ohio.
One of the most significant highlights of Paint Creek State Park Campground, as frequently noted by campers, is its remarkable quietness. "The best part is that it's quiet. No road noise, no trains. Peaceful!" one satisfied visitor exclaimed. This attribute sets it apart for those who genuinely seek a tranquil camping experience, allowing for deep relaxation and immersion in nature's sounds. While some sites might be closer together than others, many offer a "nice" setting, and there are even "premium deck sites" with lake views available, providing diverse options to suit different preferences.
Beyond the peace and quiet, the campground offers essential conveniences that enhance the stay. The "Great camp store" and "cute camp store, friendly staff, Perry's ice cream, and a rocking chair on the porch" add a touch of comfort and hospitality that visitors appreciate. With a variety of sites including electric and full hookup options, Paint Creek State Park Campground caters to different camping styles, ensuring that everyone from tent campers to RV enthusiasts can find a suitable spot for their Ohio outdoor getaway.
Paint Creek State Park Campground is situated at Paint Township, OH 45612, USA. This address places it squarely within the scenic Paint Creek State Park, nestled in the rolling hills and picturesque valley of southwest Ohio. For Ohio residents, its location offers a fantastic opportunity for a natural escape that feels remote enough to be peaceful, yet remains accessible for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation.
While one reviewer mentioned it's "in the middle of nowhere," which appeals to those seeking solitude, this seclusion contributes directly to the "quiet" atmosphere that is a major draw for the campground. Despite this "middle of nowhere" feel, the park is generally accessible via well-maintained state routes. Its proximity to towns like Bainbridge (often listed as its postal city) and Hillsboro means that while you might not have immediate access to bustling city centers, essential supplies, gas, and perhaps a local eatery are within a reasonable driving distance.
Within the park, the campground roads are typically paved, making them suitable for all types of vehicles, including large RVs and those towing trailers. However, a review noted that "The roads are narrow, so be careful walking and bike riding." This is a minor consideration for internal navigation, but does not impede overall accessibility to the campground itself. The direct connection to the 1,148-acre Paint Creek Lake ensures that campers have convenient access to water-based activities like boating, fishing, and swimming, making the journey worthwhile for those eager to explore the park's natural features.

As Paint Creek State Park Campground is part of the Ohio State Park system, managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), it generally operates under standardized pricing and reservation policies. However, Ohio locals can often find value through the following system-wide structures and considerations:
- Seasonal Rates: Camping rates at Paint Creek State Park, like most Ohio State Parks, vary between peak season (generally late spring through early fall) and off-peak season (winter and early spring). Off-peak rates are typically lower, providing an incentive for locals to visit during quieter times of the year. During winter camping, fees are reduced as full-service sites may not have water at the site.
- Online Reservation System: The most accurate and up-to-date source for current pricing, availability for specific site types (including full hookup and premium deck sites), and any system-wide discounts or programs is the official Ohio State Parks reservation website (reserveohio.com). Reservations can be made up to six months in advance.
- Walk-In Availability: For spontaneous trips, walk-in sites may be available for open spots and can be reserved at the camp store.
- Ohio State Parks Rewards Program: Visitors can inquire about or enroll in the Ohio State Parks Rewards Program, which may offer benefits for frequent visitors to state parks.
- Special Events/Themed Weekends: While not a discount, the campground often hosts themed weekends (e.g., family birdhouse building, Halloween campout) and activities (e.g., VIP breakfasts, movie nights) that add significant value to the camping experience. Check the park's official event calendar.

Customer Reviews
Nice campground, some sites are close but a lot are very nice. The bathrooms could use a little more attention but not too bad. Great camp store
This was our first visit here. The campground was clean, but the spots are a little close together. We had full hook-ups, and the shelter house was behind us, the water treatment facility was the view when we sat under our awning, and the picnic table pads were in a wonky place. The spot next to us basically sat outside of our kitchen window all weekend. There is a nice playground for kids. The roads are narrow, so be careful walking and bike riding. This place is in the middle of nowhere, which I like, but if you like to drive into town to explore, you may want to skip this one. We didn't use the bath house or public restrooms, so I can't report on that. Cute camp store, friendly staff, Perry's ice cream, and a rocking chair on the porch is a nice afternoon treat. There are many state parks I like better, but my husband really liked it here. If you don't mind closer quarters, then you'll be fine here. I just like to be left alone and see as few people as possible when I camp. The best part is that it's quiet. No road noise, no trains. Peaceful!
Great family friendly spot to camp. We were in spot 63. Electric was 15, 30 and 50 amps. Cell coverage with Verizon was OK, 4G only, but still fast enough to stream some shows for the kids. Mini golf was fun ($3/person, 5yr old and under were free). Some great ice cream too. Overall, we had a great weekend and will be going back!
Campground is stellar! You won't be disappointed. Right on Paint Creek Lake!!
Love this park! Always a fun time!
