Absolutely love the boardwalk trail that goes throughout the forest and along the creek. The 6 mile trail through the forest just off of the boardwalk is pretty in the fall and great for nature pictures. The Scout Trail is pretty and around a cute pond just be on the look out for snakes as you go.
Oct 20, 2024 · Amanda WilliamsWhat a lovely slice of nature. The interpretive boardwalk trail is something to see. The diversity of plant species and the size of the old growth trees is quite impressive. Bunny rabbits, woodpeckers, fox and the fluffiest white-tail deer roam about with little regard to human presence ♥️. There are plenty of wildflowers to enjoy too. The campground is pretty tightly packed in and extremelyclose to the road, but luckily, I'm the only one here! Restrooms were very clean and maintained every day. Bring repellent cause the ticks are fierce here (late April).
Apr 23, 2024 · Local, Everywhere. On the two hour drive with little but empty Midwest to see coming from Kansas City we wondered if it would be worth it. It ended up exceeding all of our expectations and becoming one of the best looking parks in MO. The wet prairie and boardwalk path were particularly amazing. The camp grounds themselves aren't the best of the best. Not a lot of soft or flat ground many a hills. but the views, hiking paths, and nature surrounding the area more than make up for it. Not many if any convenient stores nearby so make sure you are well prepared if you go. It's worth it though for the beautiful park.
Apr 16, 2024 · Pete CockrellThis was a beautiful, well maintained campground and park. I stayed one night on my road trip to Ohio from Nebraska. Nice and quiet, I was the only one in the entire primitive section. Pre checking my reservation was easy and they have an option to pay the day of if there is a site available. Showerhouse is available as well, but watch out for wasps
Jul 03, 2022 · T.J. KeenanWonderful park with boardwalk hiking trail. We enjoyed the nature signs and the natural prairies.
