Customer Reviews
Prairie Flower campground was recently updated (2023) with major improvements. In spring of 2024 parts of the park were hit with weather related events that destroyed a lot of trees around sites. But regardless, we love coming/staying at this campground.
Since I don't own an oversized luxury camper, I probably looked like the Beverly Hillbilly from California until the trailer park boys moved in across the road. First off the campground is Prairie Flower; therefore, I had to search for the flowers. The trails are very well marked and there are a few splendous varieties to be seen. The campground is spacious to be sure. I was in slot B38 and there was plenty of room for expansion. All sites have electric. With my parks discount I only spent 11$ a night. Can't beat that price even though I really have no need for the electric. Sites don't have many shade trees directly. But, there are trees and I spent time chasing the shade. The heat was directing my exertion level and erecting the screen house seemed like too much sweat. I didn't have bug issues. The northern loop sites looked like modern day wagon train groupings. And the volleyball court was very well groomed. Large oversize play equipment for children.
This is an excellent Army Corp Campground. We got a site large enough for our 43 ft diesel Motorhome. Close to Des Moines. Beautiful lake. We had a great 3 day stay. Visited Des Moines, Toured the State Capital. Had great dinners. We will definitely come back.
This campground is amazing! Spacious concrete pads. Really nice playgrounds. Very clean shower and bathrooms. Showers are spacious. Only downfall was no water hookups at the sites.
Nice paved campsites on two loops (B and C, a few on the other loops) which is very helpful with a large RV. Spacious sites and clean restroom facilities. We try to stay here every summer during a weekday here and there, but since all sites are reservable nearly impossible to drop in on a weekend. A shame to see sites reserved and then no shows.
