Bushwhacker Lake Conservation Area stands out with several key features and highlights that make it a compelling destination for Missouri’s outdoor enthusiasts:
As a Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) managed area, Bushwhacker Lake Conservation Area operates under a consistent fee structure set by the state for primitive camping. Unlike commercial campgrounds, MDC areas typically do not offer rotating "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional sense. Their pricing is usually fixed and designed to be affordable for public access while supporting conservation efforts. Reviews already highlight the camping as "cheap," indicating its inherent value.
Any "special offers" would likely come in the form of statewide programs by the Missouri Department of Conservation, such as annual permits for certain activities (though camping is often no-fee or low-fee and first-come, first-served) or educational programs that might be free to attend. For the most current and precise information on camping regulations, any associated minimal fees, or specific rules regarding permits for activities like hunting or trapping, it is always best to consult the official Missouri Department of Conservation website directly or contact their regional office. They can provide accurate details on what to expect regarding costs and any statewide initiatives that might apply to visitors at Bushwhacker Lake Conservation Area.
For specific inquiries about Bushwhacker Lake Conservation Area, including details on primitive camping regulations, current area conditions, fishing guidelines, or information on hunting/trapping permits, the best point of contact is the Missouri Department of Conservation's regional office that oversees the area. While a direct phone number for the on-site campground might not exist for primitive areas, the main regional office can provide comprehensive assistance.

Great spot for fishing and camping. Pit toilets are the norm and can be icky however sure beats digging a hole or carrying out. The camp spots are well mowed and include fire rings. Many trails to lakeside fishing. The covered dock gets crowded, I did catch fish from it though.
