Lamar RV Park About

For RV travelers passing through or exploring Southwest Missouri, Lamar RV Park, situated within the expansive Lamar City Park in Lamar, MO, offers a practical and budget-friendly stop. This isn't a full-service resort with extensive amenities, but rather a well-positioned "parking lot for RV's with water and power," as one visitor aptly put it. Its primary appeal lies in its convenience for overnight stays, the ease of access, and the pleasant, natural environment provided by the surrounding city park.

Lamar RV Park is particularly suited for those who appreciate the simpler aspects of RV travel: a safe, clean, and accessible place to hook up and rest. While some traditional RV park amenities like dedicated showers, laundromats, or playgrounds might not be available directly at the RV spots, the park makes up for it with its inviting natural setting. Visitors have noted the "nice and green" surroundings, emphasizing the appeal of "nature close by." For those who believe in the power of the "great outdoors and our wonderful imagination," this park provides ample space for children and adults alike to enjoy the natural environment.

It’s important for prospective visitors to manage their expectations regarding the level of services, but for a quick stop or a base to explore the local area, Lamar RV Park at the City Park offers a straightforward and often very affordable solution. The friendly management, as highlighted by a positive review, also contributes to a pleasant experience, making it a viable consideration for your next journey through Missouri.

Location and Accessibility

Lamar RV Park is conveniently located at 240 SE 1st Ln, Lamar, MO 64759, USA. This address places it directly within the larger Lamar City Park, a central feature of the community of Lamar, Missouri. Lamar is situated in Barton County, in the southwestern part of the state, making it an accessible stop for travelers on major routes.

The RV parking area is specifically located on the west side of Lamar City Park. This placement offers excellent accessibility, as the city park itself is well-integrated into Lamar's infrastructure. For RVers, pulling off the main roads and navigating to the park is generally straightforward. Lamar is positioned near U.S. Route 71 (which is now largely Interstate 49), providing easy access for those traveling north or south through the region. This makes Lamar RV Park a practical choice for an overnight stop or a brief stay while exploring the local area.

One aspect of its location noted in reviews is its proximity to active railroad tracks, approximately "across the road from a busy railroad track." While this may result in "noise from the trains," especially due to horns at crossings, many travelers find they can adapt. The trade-off is the convenience of the location and the surrounding amenities of the city park, including a "beautiful Park" with "great walking trails around park, and to nearby businesses." The park also has clear signage for registration (typically involving a call to management), ensuring a smooth arrival.

Services Offered

Lamar RV Park, operating within the Lamar City Park, offers a focused set of essential services designed to cater to the basic needs of RV travelers. It functions more as a convenient stopover point with access to general park amenities rather than a full-service RV resort.

  • Electric Hookups: The park provides electric-only hookups at its RV spots. These generally include both 30 Amp and 50 Amp connections, catering to a wide range of RV sizes and power needs. The number of available electric hookups is limited (e.g., three poles with multiple connections), and they operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Central Dumping Station: A crucial amenity for RVers, a central dumping station is available on-site for wastewater disposal.
  • Central Filling Station (Potable Water): Potable water spigots are available for filling RV fresh water tanks. It's noted that sometimes these spigots might be located near restrooms or dump stations, and may require longer hoses or separate trips depending on the site. Water availability can also be seasonal, with spigots turned off in colder months to prevent freezing, but a frost-free hydrant might be available.
  • Restroom Facilities: There are restroom facilities available within the Lamar City Park. However, it's important to note that these are public park restrooms, and specific reviews mention "no showers are included at this time" at the RV area restrooms. Some restrooms may also have seasonal closures or limited hours (e.g., closed until April).
  • Grassy Parking Areas: RVs typically park on grassy spots, often with gravel pull-through strips for ease of access and leveling.
  • Management Contact: Management is available via phone for registration and assistance, with visitors noting the staff as "very pleasant" and "helpful."

Features / Highlights

Lamar RV Park, as part of the Lamar City Park, offers several notable features and highlights that make it a distinctive and appealing stop for RVers in Missouri.

  • Affordable and Often Free First Night: A major highlight is the incredible value, with the first night of camping often being free. Subsequent nights are also very reasonably priced (e.g., $20 per night), making it one of the most budget-friendly options for an overnight or short stay in the region.
  • Convenient Location within a City Park: Being situated directly within Lamar City Park provides immediate access to a range of public park amenities. This includes a "beautiful Park," "great walking trails" (a one-mile paved, handicapped-accessible loop), "playgrounds" for children, basketball courts, and a tennis court.
  • Natural Environment: Despite being a city park, the RV area is described as "very nice and green," offering "plenty of space and grass" and a "natural environment." This provides a pleasant backdrop for relaxation, even with the proximity to the railroad.
  • Ease of Access: The park is designed for easy pull-in and pull-out, suitable for big rigs, and is conveniently located close to major routes, making it ideal for travelers needing a quick and efficient stop.
  • Friendly Management: Positive reviews consistently mention the "very pleasant" and "accommodating" management, which enhances the overall experience and provides a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
  • Self-Contained RV Focus: For RVers who are self-sufficient (meaning their RV has its own bathroom and shower), the lack of separate shower or laundry facilities on-site is less of an issue, aligning with its "bare bones" yet functional approach.
  • Local Attractions Nearby: The park's location offers access to local attractions within Lamar, such as the Lamar Aquatic Park (seasonal) and events like "Picnic in the Park" food truck events at the City Park, adding local flavor to a stay.

Promotions or Special Offers

Lamar RV Park, operating within the Lamar City Park, is notable for its highly attractive pricing structure, which serves as an ongoing "promotion" for RV travelers. While it may not feature complex promotional campaigns like larger commercial parks, its core offering provides significant value.

  • First Night Free: A major highlight and continuous offer is that the first night of RV parking is free. This is a tremendous benefit for travelers needing a quick, cost-effective overnight stop.
  • Affordable Subsequent Nights: After the complimentary first night, additional nights are very affordably priced, typically around $20 per night. This makes it an excellent option for stays of a few days.
  • Maximum Stay Limit: There is a maximum stay limit, usually seven nights, within a specific timeframe (e.g., a seven-night maximum stay per 30-day period). This is common for city-run RV parks designed for transient travelers rather than long-term residents.
  • Basic, Essential Hookups Included: The nightly fee (or free first night) includes access to electric hookups, and the use of the central dump station and potable water filling station. This transparency in pricing, with essential services included, contributes to its perceived value.

It's important for visitors to understand that these rates are for electric-only hookups in a city park setting. As mentioned in reviews, amenities such as private showers, laundromats, or dedicated playgrounds for the RV area itself are generally not included. However, for the price point, particularly the free first night, the value for a clean, safe, and convenient stop with access to city park amenities is exceptional. For the most current rates and any specific usage policies, it is advisable to call the park management directly using the provided contact information.

We came visit family and decided not to drive on to the next family which is in Florida until the next day. The place seems very nice and green. We enjoyed the fact that there is nature close by until I walked out my door and got bombed by junebugs. Lol. I'm from Washington State and they are alien to me. But once I researched them and found out they are drawn to lights. Also that they are bad flyers is why they were crashing into me and my dog and my trailer, I just laughed it off as another part of the adventure. The management and his young boy were very pleasant and we would stay here again. As to the review of the place not having a play area, I didn't really see as a problem. There is plenty of space and grass and bugs and other things for a child to do that has a great imagination. Too much of our society is into electronics and children having to be entertained. We survived on the great outdoors and our wonderful imagination. We were not bored and didn't drive our parents crazy. It's nice to be in the natural environment. Keep up the great work.

This park has extremely poor management, is a muddy mess when it rains or snows, no bathrooms or showers, no laundromat, no playground for the kiddos and no bench! In regards to the false comment about our family (the Panno’s) owing money is a total lie. The Panno’s owe you nothing! Our young adult son hit a few obstacles and lost his job but has vowed to pay you when he can. He is human and life happens! As a young Marine, he should be given more respect and grace. This remains between the two of you. My husband and I owe you NOTHING! It is YOU that owes us money for the electrical surge that sparked through our RV frying all our outlets including our fridge, fireplace, converter, and all our small appliances including our Xbox. This is what’s really going on, and is why we’re taking yall to court! They also turned off our water for a week during this last cold blast but charged us full price. This is thievery! All that said, I DO NOT recommend this RV park to Anyone.🤚🏼

Will take your RV and move it and not tell you where it is, also seems to have issues with collecting and recording payments. This was a home for someone. Regardless of payment arrangements he stole someone's home and made them homeless. If he handled the situation differently he'd have a better review.
