This article will provide a comprehensive guide to Sandy Pines Recreation Community, focusing on its accessibility, extensive services, unique features, and how it caters to the needs of local users. From its vast grounds to its family-friendly policies, we’ll explore what makes Sandy Pines a true gem in Michigan's camping landscape.
Sandy Pines Recreation Community is an expansive, 800-acre private recreational community and RV resort located in Hopkins, Michigan. It’s far more than a typical RV park; it’s a self-contained vacation destination that has been a favorite for West Michigan families for over 50 years. The resort is built around Lake Monterey, a 262-acre lake that forms the heart of many water-based activities.
The core philosophy of Sandy Pines is to provide a fun and safe environment where families and friends can create a lifetime of memories. This is achieved through a vast array of amenities, diverse recreational activities, and a strong sense of community. The resort features a mix of both seasonal (permanent) units and rental lots, catering to both long-term members and short-term visitors. While the sheer size of the resort necessitates using golf carts to get around (which are a big part of the fun!), it also ensures there’s ample space for various zones, from quiet camping areas to bustling activity centers. The resort's attention to cleanliness, from its numerous heated restrooms with hot showers to its well-maintained common areas, further enhances the guest experience. It truly aims to be a home away from home for its members and guests.
Sandy Pines Recreation Community is located at 2540 136th Ave, Hopkins, MI 49328, USA, specifically the address for the Phase 3 Entrance Gate. Hopkins is nestled in Allegan County, West Michigan, placing the resort in a prime location that is easily accessible from major population centers across the state. The community’s proximity to US-131, a primary north-south highway in Michigan, ensures straightforward travel for RVs and vehicles towing trailers, minimizing complex routes and maximizing convenience.
While the resort itself is a secluded getaway, its location in Hopkins offers the benefit of being close enough to nearby towns for any necessary supplies or off-resort excursions. Grand Rapids is roughly 30-40 minutes north, and Kalamazoo is a similar distance south, providing access to larger city amenities, shopping, and dining options. This balance of being immersed in nature while remaining conveniently connected to urban centers is a significant draw for Michigan residents.
The "Phase 3 Entrance Gate" indicates that Sandy Pines is a large, multi-faceted property with different entry points, reflecting its extensive footprint. Navigating within the resort is made easy by paved roads, but as reviews suggest, a golf cart is highly recommended due to the vastness of the grounds. Customer Reviews
Huge camping resort! So much to do and fun to drive golf carts around. You will need a golf cart unless you plan to walk, run or bike to get around. There is so much to do here! Definitely need more than a few days to enjoy everything. Campsites are like most modern sites, close to your neighbor. Bathrooms are very clean.
This area of the Pines has both permanent units and rental lots. Occasionally some of the rental campers may not be aware of the quiet hours or realize some children, and adults, are already in bed. Other than the occasional midnight karaoke party, the pines is a great escape.
Beautiful campground. 1166 is an amazing corner spot for overnight campers. Phase 3 is quiet and a quick hot across the main road from the rest of the park.
Good place but no dump station or sewer hook up. Only drawback. Otherwise okay assuming you have a golf cart to get to other phases.
Of course! My pleasure! Thanks for providing a fun time for my kids even though everything was pretty much closed already and it was of course raining and freezing however still my kids had a great time so thank you
