Promotions or Special Offers

As a public campground managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) within Gambrill State Park, Rock Run Campground primarily operates on a standard fee structure for camping permits. Therefore, specific "promotions" or "special offers" in the commercial sense (like percentage discounts or coupon codes) are generally not a feature. The value proposition of a state park campground lies in its affordable access to natural resources and well-maintained facilities.

However, visitors can consider the following aspects related to pricing and value:

  • Maryland State Park & Trail Passport: For frequent visitors to Maryland State Parks, purchasing an annual Maryland State Park & Trail Passport offers unlimited day-use entry to all state parks for a fixed annual fee. While this pass primarily covers day-use entry, it can offer overall savings if you plan multiple visits to various Maryland State Parks throughout the year.
  • Seasonal Rates: Camping rates can vary based on the type of site (basic, electric, cabin), residency (Maryland resident vs. out-of-state), and sometimes the season or day of the week (weekend/holiday premiums apply). Checking the official Maryland DNR park reservation website (parkreservations.maryland.gov) for specific dates will provide the most accurate pricing.
  • Extended Stay Value: While one review noted it's "a good park for a nights stay while traveling, but not really for a longer stay," the availability of amenities like hot showers, dump stations, and electrical hookups can certainly make longer stays comfortable for those who prefer them, offering sustained value for a multi-day outdoor retreat.

Reservations for campsites and cabins are required and can be made through the official Maryland Park Service reservation system. It is advisable to book well in advance, especially for weekends, holidays, and camper cabins, as they tend to fill up quickly.

Cute park, but quite loud from road and air traffic. Quite a bit of poison ivy right off driving and walking paths; removing some of the invasive plants that are taking over the park may make it easier to control. On the plus side, the amount of brush and dead trees created a little wonderland for birds. It's a good park for a nights stay while traveling, but not really for a longer stay.

A great campsite with all the amenities. Bathrooms and showers are clean and ready to use. Bathrooms are heated and water gets HOT. Park Rangers stroll through frequently if needed. Plenty of space and plenty of different varieties I’ve included pictures of all the spots near us because there wasn’t detailed ones of each spot.

Beautiful campground! The pictures posted don't do it justice. It's quiet and peaceful yet so close to town. Bathrooms are clean and camp spots are not too close together. Not all spots have electric hook ups.

Clean quiet camping. Good value. A downside is that there is only one smallish bathhouse for the entire campground. It might be a long walk from your site. Great cell phone reception but that also means you are close to roads.
