Shoal Creek Campground About
For residents across Georgia seeking a refreshing escape into nature, a well-chosen campground can make all the difference. Shoal Creek Campground, located in Buford, Georgia, presents an intriguing option for those looking to experience the beauty of Lake Lanier. This campground offers a blend of natural charm with essential amenities, aiming to provide a comfortable and memorable outdoor adventure for campers of all kinds.
The appeal of camping often lies in the promise of spacious sites, natural surroundings, and a peaceful environment, and Shoal Creek Campground delivers on many of these fronts. One satisfied camper highlighted these very qualities, stating, "We explored the campground and some of the other sites have MUCH better lake views. Saw lots of deer that my son thought was the coolest thing." This speaks to the natural beauty and wildlife viewing opportunities that make this campground a special place. Another review emphasized the privacy and essential hookups: "The sites are not packed in so you can have some privacy. It has water, electricity and black water dump station. Deer are abundant and will walk right through your campsite. It’s dog friendly and the staff are helpful and polite." These endorsements paint a picture of a welcoming and nature-rich environment.
It is important to acknowledge that some reviews have raised concerns regarding cleanliness, particularly in shared facilities. One extended stay visitor noted, "My biggest concern was the cleanliness of the bathrooms... I don't believe they cleaned or had trash removed during my entire stay." This feedback, while critical, also includes a hopeful note: "Hopefully, Margaritaville will implement the necessary improvements and updates to return this park to its glory." This suggests an awareness of the need for improvements and an expectation that the current management, now associated with Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, will address these issues. Indeed, publicly available information indicates that Margaritaville at Lanier Islands has undertaken "campground improvements" and "refurbishing 50 of the campsites" at its Blue Ridge Campgrounds, located near their RV Resort. While not explicitly stating that Shoal Creek is part of this particular refurbishment phase, it signals a commitment to enhancing their camping properties. Therefore, prospective campers are encouraged to consider the overall picture and directly verify current conditions.

Customer Reviews
Stayed at a tent site with lake view. We were close to the entrance, which was the only site available for the weekend. We explored the campground and some of the other sites have MUCH better lake views. Shower/bathrooms need some attention as they are not the cleanest. Saw lots of deer that my son thought was the coolest thing.
I stayed at this campground for 2 weeks, and although the park and view of the lake were picturesque, the sites were very tight with little room for my truck. My biggest concern was the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Since there was no sewer hookup and I was on an extended trip, I took advantage of the shower room to minimize needing to dump my tanks during my stay. Over the first few days, the shower and bathroom overall was filthy, but since I checked in on a Sunday, I assumed they were dirty from the weekend and would be attended to during the week. Sadly, that was not the case. I don't believe they cleaned or had trash removed during my entire stay. The exterior lights to the bathroom were off at night, posing a safety concern. I'm glad I had a chance to check out the park, but I wouldn't return or recommend it to friends. Hopefully, Margaritaville will implement the necessary improvements and updates to return this park to its glory.
It was noisy during Easter weekend, but our campsite came with a nice private beach and kids enjoyed it the whole weekend. Sites are not very accessible, because of steep slope with old wooden stairs — all broken and barely holding together
Canceled our reservation for a unforseen family emergency and was 1 day out of the alloted time period. Everyone else does refunds with at least 48 hours notice. This place is a joke and much better camp grounds dont cost as much as this place and have much better cancelation/refund policies. Never again.
I love this campground and its access to the lake for most of the sites. They also have a beach at the front with a basketball court and a swing set for the kids
