Tanglewood About
Florida, a state synonymous with sunshine and relaxed living, continues to attract individuals seeking a vibrant yet comfortable lifestyle, especially within its diverse mobile home communities. For those considering a move to Central Florida, Tanglewood Mobile Home Park in Sebring presents itself as an option within the landscape of manufactured home communities. Understanding what a community like Tanglewood offers, and what current residents experience, is key to making an informed decision about your potential new home in the Sunshine State.
Tanglewood is a substantial mobile home park located in Sebring, a city known for its beautiful lakes, golf courses, and a more laid-back pace compared to Florida's bustling coastal cities. Mobile home parks often appeal to individuals looking for an affordable entry into homeownership in Florida, as well as those seeking a community-focused environment. These communities typically offer a range of amenities and activities, fostering a sense of belonging among residents.
For anyone considering a mobile home park, factors such as community atmosphere, maintenance of common areas, and responsiveness of management are paramount. A thorough exploration of what Tanglewood offers in these areas, based on available information, can help prospective residents determine if it aligns with their vision of Florida living.
Location and Accessibility
Tanglewood Mobile Home Park is situated at 3000 Tanglewood Pkwy, Sebring, FL 33872, USA. This address places the community in Sebring, a city nestled in Highlands County, known for its picturesque landscape of lakes and a more tranquil atmosphere than Florida's larger metropolitan areas. The location offers a balance between peaceful living and convenient access to essential services and recreational opportunities.
The community's address on Tanglewood Parkway suggests it is part of a larger, potentially master-planned area, which often implies well-laid-out roads and a structured environment. Its positioning within Sebring means residents typically have good accessibility to local amenities. Sebring itself is served by major roadways, primarily US-27, which provides a direct north-south route through Central Florida. This connectivity facilitates easy travel to and from the community, whether for daily errands or longer trips.
For day-to-day needs, residents of Tanglewood are generally within a convenient driving distance of various shopping centers, grocery stores, pharmacies, and dining establishments in Sebring. The city offers a range of medical facilities, including hospitals and clinics, ensuring access to healthcare services. Recreational opportunities abound in the Sebring area, which is famous for its numerous freshwater lakes. These lakes provide excellent opportunities for fishing, boating, and enjoying Florida's natural beauty. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to several golf courses, as Sebring is a prominent part of the "Florida Citrus Golf Trail."
While Tanglewood provides a quiet living environment, its Central Florida location also offers accessibility to some of the state's major attractions. Theme parks in Orlando, as well as the Gulf and Atlantic coastlines, are typically within a reasonable drive, allowing for day trips and weekend excursions. This blend of local convenience and regional accessibility makes the location of Tanglewood suitable for those seeking a balance in their Florida lifestyle.
Services Offered
- Lot Rental: Residents rent the land on which their mobile home is situated. This typically includes access to common areas and amenities.
- Community Maintenance (Common Areas): Services are generally provided for the upkeep of shared spaces, such as landscaping in common areas, roads, and community facilities. However, recent resident feedback indicates concerns regarding the consistency and quality of this service, with mentions of uncleaned leaves and unkempt common areas.
- Security (Gated Community Concept): The community is intended to be gated. However, current resident reviews highlight that the front gate has been frequently broken and wide open for extended periods, impacting the intended security feature.
- Utilities Access: While residents are typically responsible for their individual utility hookups and bills (electric, water, sewer), the park provides the infrastructure for these services to each lot.
- Trash Collection: Regular trash removal services are usually part of the community's offerings.
Features / Highlights
- Community Structure: Tanglewood operates as a mobile home park, providing lots for manufactured homes, which can offer an accessible entry point to Florida living.
- Gated Community (Intention): The community is designed with a gated entry for enhanced security, though residents have reported that the gate has frequently been non-operational.
- Common Areas: The community includes common areas intended for resident use and enjoyment. Recent feedback suggests a decline in the maintenance of these areas, with descriptions of them looking less like a park and more like a dirt parking lot due to lack of cleanup.
- Pond with Fountain: There is a pond within the community that features a fountain, though its functionality has been noted as intermittent.
- Potential for Activities: While not explicitly detailed as actively functioning in recent reviews, mobile home communities often have clubhouses, pools, and other recreational facilities to foster community engagement. However, reviews mention pool heaters being broken and a manager threatening to shut down the pool.
- Spacious RV Lots (as part of a larger community that includes RVs, suggesting overall spaciousness): While specifically a mobile home park, the broader Tanglewood property has an RV resort with spacious lots, which may imply a general standard of space within the mobile home section as well.
- Management Presence: There is on-site management. However, recent resident reviews express significant concerns regarding the manager's responsiveness and willingness to address resident concerns, with reports of her refusing to talk to residents and not showing up to appointments.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For Floridians considering a mobile home park in the Sebring area, Tanglewood presents itself as an option within the realm of affordable housing and community living. Its location offers the quiet, lake-dotted charm of Highlands County, with access to local amenities and a slower pace of life that appeals to many seeking an escape from urban bustle. The potential for a community environment, with shared spaces and facilities, can be attractive to those looking to connect with neighbors and enjoy social activities that are often characteristic of mobile home parks.
However, based on recent resident feedback, it's crucial for prospective locals to approach Tanglewood with a clear understanding of current conditions. While the concept of a gated community and well-maintained common areas is appealing, reviews indicate significant issues with the functionality of the gate, the upkeep of grounds, and responsiveness of management. These factors are highly important for residents seeking safety, cleanliness, and a well-managed living environment.
For a local user, the decision to choose Tanglewood would hinge on a thorough personal visit and direct conversations with management about how current resident concerns are being addressed. If these issues are resolved and the community returns to a state of well-maintained facilities and responsive management, then Tanglewood could indeed fulfill the desire for an affordable and community-oriented lifestyle in a desirable part of Florida. Without these improvements, prospective residents may find that the current conditions do not meet their expectations for a "home away from home" in the Sunshine State.
Customer Reviews
Gated community is a joke! Front gate has been broken for months and wide open. The maintenance in common areas has gone down the tubes. Grass has died because of the thick layer of leaves that is never cleaned up. Manager is worthless! Refusing to talk to residents about concerns and not showing up to a meeting if you finally get an appointment with her. Broken fences, street lights broken, roads in need of repair, common areas used to look like a park, now looks like a dirt parking lot. Fountain in pond works occasionally. Such a shame. I moved my parents there several years ago feeling good about the community and their safety in a gated community. I don’t feel that way anymore. Extremely high lot rent for conditions and lack of management
I moved here 3 years ago and it was a great place to be a snowbird. But things have gone downhill very fast. The front gate only works about 25 percent of the time, the pool heaters are broke again and the park manager called the police on the residents today and threatened to shut the pool down
A vibrant 55+ community with a friendly atmosphere and wide range of amenities. Love the well-maintained grounds, active lifestyle opportunities, and sense of camaraderie among neighbors. The proximity to restaurants and stores are a big plus!
I’m moving to Florida in a few months, I was considering your community to purchase a house in. Now I’m not so sure, you have some very poor reviews, especially on the management of the community. If it’s not delt with, I have no problem going elsewhere.
Very poor management. Nothing gets fixed. Pool always cold or not usable due to heater and / or filters not working. Interior landscaping be neglected by management. I would not recommend Tanglewood.
