The Roost and Ride Ranch About

For Oklahomans who cherish both the freedom of RV living and the beauty of equestrian life, finding a place that seamlessly blends these passions is a dream come true. The Roost and Ride Ranch in Shawnee, Oklahoma, emerges as a distinctive RV park that caters specifically to this niche, offering not just a place to park your RV but a serene and engaging environment centered around horses and nature. In a state known for its Western heritage and abundant open spaces, a facility like this provides an unparalleled experience for locals and visitors alike.

The RV lifestyle in Oklahoma is as varied as its landscape, from urban adventures to remote wilderness explorations. However, for those with horses or a deep appreciation for them, the options narrow considerably. The Roost and Ride Ranch fills this gap, providing a unique proposition that goes beyond standard RV park amenities. The name itself hints at its dual purpose: a place to "Roost" (settle comfortably in your RV) and "Ride" (enjoy equestrian activities).

Customer reviews for The Roost and Ride Ranch are overwhelmingly positive, highlighting its unique charm and exceptional management. One resident living in a Class A RV expresses delight in watching "the horses in the ring grazing or jumping or running around having fun," and the serene sight of "deer graze through the hay field." This immediate connection to nature and equestrian activities sets the ranch apart. Another detailed review praises Angela, the manager, as "super nice, and accommodating from the beginning," specifically noting her flexibility for check-in/out times for those attending large events at the Expo Center, and her diligence in verifying Coggins papers for horses. These personal touches and specialized considerations speak volumes about the quality of the experience.

The consistent themes of a "quiet and peaceful setting," "fun and helpful management," and providing a "relaxing and safe place to stay and rest" for both people and horses reinforce the ranch's appeal. This article will delve deeper into the unique offerings of The Roost and Ride Ranch, covering its convenient location, the specialized services it provides, its distinctive features and highlights, and ultimately, why it is an ideal choice for Oklahomans, especially those with an equestrian bent.

Location and Accessibility

The Roost and Ride Ranch is conveniently situated at 119 Baker St, Shawnee, OK 74801, USA. This address places it within the city of Shawnee, Oklahoma, offering a unique blend of a tranquil, rural atmosphere with accessible urban conveniences.

While located within Shawnee, the reviews highlight a distinct "country feel" to the property. The ability to "watch the horses in the ring" and "the deer graze through the hay field" indicates that the ranch is set apart from the immediate hustle and bustle of downtown areas, providing a peaceful retreat. This allows residents to enjoy the serenity of nature without being completely isolated.

The park's accessibility is a significant advantage, particularly for its target clientele. Shawnee is a well-connected city in central Oklahoma, primarily served by Interstate 40, a major east-west highway. The ranch's location in Shawnee means easy access for RVers traveling across the state or those coming from larger metropolitan areas like Oklahoma City, which is a relatively short drive away. This makes it convenient for both short-term stays and long-term residency.

Crucially, for those involved in equestrian events, the ranch's proximity to the "Expo Center" (likely the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center) is a major draw. The review specifically mentions staying for an "extremely large barrel race at the Expo Center," highlighting the ranch's strategic location for competitors and attendees. This convenience allows for quick travel between the ranch and event venues, minimizing stress for both riders and horses.

Beyond equestrian pursuits, residents also have convenient access to Shawnee's amenities, which typically include grocery stores, retail outlets, various dining establishments, healthcare facilities, and local attractions. The combination of a peaceful, nature-rich setting and excellent connectivity to urban conveniences and specialized event venues makes The Roost and Ride Ranch's location highly appealing for its target audience in Oklahoma.

Contacted Angela several weeks before coming down to stay for an extremely large barrel race at the Expo Center. She was super nice, and accommodating from the beginning. There wasn't a restriction on times to check-in vs out, which allowed us to set up after a 4 hour drive with plenty of time for our horses legs to rest and stretch. We were able to set up temp pens, come and go as needed, and she even took drivers license to verify my coggins matched! 😍 I can appreciate everything this facility had to offer from the quiet and peaceful setting, to the fun and helpful management. I will gladly stay here any time we wander down to Shawnee again! Thank you so much for giving myself and my horses a relaxing and safe place to stay and rest Angela!!

First time to stay here! I came to town for a huge barrel race, Had a friend check into this place and I decided to stay also. 10/10 recommend! So many good things to say about this place! 1st and foremost they ask us to provide coggins on our horses. I LOVE this…Cause they LOOK at them to make sure they’re current. Places you haul to say they’re required and NEVER even ask. But Angela does, She’s the property manager and upon arrival you’ll meet her. Her energy is so fun and outgoing, She will be sure to help in anyway possible, She doesn’t bother you and lets you do your thing, So easy to get along with. She made sure we had everything we needed and was as friendly as EVER! The only other “manager” that’s there is a cat and lemme say this…He will check every move you make haha! He’s all about people and horses, Angela has competition for the manager role for sure! In all seriousness this place is so calm and relaxing for us and our horses…it’s only 14 min from the expo center and it’s wayyyyy more affordable than staying at the expo center! Angela thank you so much for your hospitality!! 10/10 will always stay here when I’m in Shawnee! Book your stay yall! My horse sure enjoyed it!

We decided to roost here for a super show in the Shawnee area to give our horses a relaxing stay away from the noisy show atmosphere so they could rest and recoup from their runs and give ourselves the relief of avoiding long walks to the stall barn. I will come back every time when I’m in this area! Super friendly and accommodating to us and the horses!
