Tippy Dam Campground is strategically located near the Tippy Dam on the Big Manistee River, widely recognized as a world-class fishing destination. This makes it an especially popular spot for anglers targeting trout, steelhead, and the abundant salmon runs during the fall season. Beyond fishing, the campground offers a gateway to the vast recreational opportunities within the surrounding Manistee National Forest.
The campground offers a variety of accommodation options, including both electric and non-electric (rustic) campsites, as well as cabins. It caters to a range of campers, from those with RVs needing hookups to tent campers seeking a more traditional experience. The natural setting, with the Manistee River flowing nearby and thousands of acres of forest land, provides a serene backdrop for outdoor activities. It is open year-round, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of the area across all four seasons, from vibrant fall colors to snowy winter landscapes.
It is important to note that while the campground offers amenities, some public feedback indicates areas that could benefit from improvement, particularly regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities like shower rooms and restrooms. Sites have basic stuff, fire ring and picnic table. Shower rooms are REALLY BAD, I mean BAD. Dirty, full of bugs and cob webs, other people's wet gear, and the smell, oh don't forget about the smell. Also they charge for everything, I mean everything. Need to use the freezer to freeze your fresh catch! $5.00! Need to use cleaning table to clean your own fish! $5.00.
Jan 22, 2025 · Aaron YoungbloodHorrible place! What they called a "rustic" cabin was nothing but an unfinished storage shed with 2 cots. There was no flooring and nothing on the walls but raw OSB. The smell of new OSB was so strong I had to sleep in my car. It's chemicals and formaldehyde. The shower and toilet area was dirty. Awful experience!
Apr 22, 2025 · Max HWe rented a cabin last minute when our RV broke down. Let me tell you I'm glad it broke down! We had such a great trip here! The owners were amazing hosts. The area was amazing to see I loved the dam and all the walking trails that are in the area! The price just can't be beat. We are already looking forward to coming back!!
Jul 22, 2024 · Dan Biedernice campground. Stayed for one night to fish the good ol tippy dam. Lots of space on tent campsites loved the privacy of the corner tent spots. Bathrooms need some work
Sep 26, 2024 · Mac ZeroLocation was good. Campsites were not marked out well, but they were level and roomy enough. Capsites were clean and it was quiet at night. There were 4 outhouses that were not very pleasant. There is a building with showers and a regular toilet area in that building. That looked clean, but smelled musty. Campfire wood sold on site was more expensive than the surrounding area was selling it for.
