Toodik Family Campground Cabin & Canoeing is conveniently located at 7700 Township Rd 462, Loudonville, OH 44842, USA. Loudonville itself is known for its picturesque setting and its reputation as "Ohio's Canoeing Capital," making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The campground's address places it within reach for many residents across Ohio, offering a relatively easy drive for a weekend escape or a longer vacation.
Accessibility to the campground is generally straightforward, though it's important for visitors to be aware of the specific terrain, particularly if arriving during or after rain. The roads leading to and within the campground, especially towards the riverfront sites (often in the 200s series), consist of grass and some gravel. While efforts are made to maintain these paths, they can become challenging to navigate, especially for larger vehicles or campers, during wet conditions. It’s always advisable to consider recent weather patterns when planning your arrival, especially if you intend to camp in lower-lying areas. For those with recreational vehicles, being prepared for varied road conditions is a good practice. The area is known for its natural, rustic charm, which extends to the campground's infrastructure, providing an authentic outdoor experience.

Its location in "Ohio's Canoeing Capital" immediately positions it as an ideal spot for those who enjoy water-based activities, offering direct access to the river for canoeing and kayaking adventures. This provides a fantastic opportunity to explore Ohio's waterways and enjoy a unique perspective of the state's natural beauty.
The campground caters to various preferences, from traditional tent camping for the purists to cabin rentals for those who prefer a touch more comfort, making it adaptable for different types of groups and families. The presence of both options means you can choose the level of immersion in nature that suits your style. For families, the idea of disconnecting from digital distractions and engaging in outdoor activities like bonfires, stargazing, and simply enjoying the peace and quiet of a natural setting is incredibly appealing. It’s a chance for children to experience the outdoors and for adults to unwind from their daily routines.
While the campground embraces a rustic appeal, which includes unpaved roads and primarily grass campsites, this is often part of the charm for many seasoned campers and those looking for a truly natural environment. It reminds visitors of the raw beauty of the outdoors. However, this also means that visitors, especially those with larger vehicles or during wet seasons, should come prepared for potentially challenging terrain. It underscores the importance of checking weather forecasts and perhaps even contacting the campground directly for current ground conditions before heading out, especially if you're bringing a substantial rig. This preparedness ensures that your focus remains on enjoyment rather than navigation challenges.
The direct access to river activities is undoubtedly one of its strongest selling points for locals. Being able to easily rent a canoe or launch your own and spend a day on the water is a significant draw. It provides a healthy, active way to spend time outdoors and discover the local ecosystem. Furthermore, supporting local businesses like Toodik Family Campground helps to sustain the regional economy and preserve these valuable recreational spaces for future generations of Ohioans.
In essence, Toodik Family Campground Cabin & Canoeing offers a slice of Ohio's natural beauty within an accessible distance for many. Customer Reviews
DO NOT come here if it rains at all, the camp sites are grass and not much gravel on the roads either, if that's not enough for you, the mosquitos will eat you alive, they will tell you that you should be fine even when they should know you will not and no refund after they have to pull you out of the mud with a bobcat, I would rate 0 stars if possible
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We love to try different places and decided to try this campground out early May. We have been to many campgrounds in and out of state and this was by far the worst experience. We booked along the river despite the reviews of being able to get up the hill if it rains. When we checked in, I voiced my concern about the full rainy weekend we had ahead of us and camping down the hill. She stated..."You should be fine". She should have never let ANYONE proceed down the hill and should have offered another campsite at the top. We proceeded down the hill only to sink in the yard and our 2500 in 4 Low, could not get our ToyHauler out of the mud...twice. It took a large bobcat to help give us enough boost to get out of the hole we sunk into. Lesson Learned. DO NOT CAMP HERE IF IT RAINS. Let me give you our review other than being stuck within the first 5 minutes of getting to our site. Once able to get the Hell out of this campground, we did. No refund and hopefully they use our money and our friends money to get some gravel for their roads and campsites. We had 5 campers with our group and thank god we stopped 3 of them from even making the drive to this campground, and stopped the ones that showed up right behind us, from bringing their camper down the hill where they would have been stuck with us. 1. Almost all of the sites are grass, not gravel. 2. The hill to get to the river sites (200s) washes away when it rains, despite their crew that "fixes" it when it rains. On the way down the hill, the road was so washed out, I thought for sure we were going to lose our camper over the edge. 3. Most all of the roads back to the campground and down the hill are wide enough to get ONE camper. God help if another vehicle is coming the opposite direction. 4. The mosquito population was HORRIBLE. While standing outside talking with our friends that came down the hill to help us get out of the muddy mess we found ourselves in, 100s swarmed and bit us. There is not enough mosquito spray to keep you from getting carried away. 5. The outhouses were overrun with bugs and mosquitos that it was difficult to even use them. They would fly in your face and up your nose. 6. If you camp at the bottom, the sites are very large but bring extra long plug and water hose as you also share with your neighbor.
Wonderful secluded camp sites down by the river if you don’t mind the bumpy, rough road going down the hill.
Perfect camping spot! Steep hill to get down to the RV spots but right on the Mohican River and lots of trees! Events scheduled for family fun, when we went they had an ice cream social - playground, swimming, hiking and much more! Great family camping location
This is an extremely clean, well maintained, wonderful gem of a campground. There are many signs guiding your way to the camp store/office which has just about anything you would need (and many things you don't but still buy anyway). The owners are very meticulous with sensible rules regarding speed limits and quiet hours to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone. Most importantly, they made sure these rules were communicated as well as posted in many visible locations to ensure there were no excuses to not be aware. The roads covering this huge property are gravel but very well maintained (just like everything else) and the seasonal campers that we met were all friendly as well. Weekend crafts and activities along with the vast expanse of well-groomed trails kept everyone busy. While the canoe livery is no longer operational due to many trees down along the river (as I was told), a quick 10-minute drive into town offered a plethora of liveries to pick from. All-in-all, we had a peaceful and relaxing weekend and would strongly recommend anyone traveling in the area to choose Toodik Famly Campground over the "parking-lot-style" commercial campgrounds that surround the area if you want a better outdoors camping experience.
