Wish the campground was a bit more central within the state park but enjoyed with the shaded sites, little free library, programming, and shower facilities! Drove to the beach - too far to walk with the little kids and we opted to skip bikes this trip
May 26, 2025 · Postcard Narrative Family TravelIt was cute and nice. We have a very small camper and stayed at a non electric site. The view was great, the staff was friendly, and it had a lot of great walking paths and fishing. We went in March and it was a bit cold. We will be back in the summer.
Mar 27, 2025 · Anna WimmerFirst time camping at this location, nice campgrounds! The good: The bathrooms are really nice, there is water access nearby, and wood to get if needed. The path around the lake is completely paved, with lots of nice bird watching. We watched a Bald eagle try to capture a duck as two blue herons flew by behind. The meh: Our particular campground was pretty muddy, which comes with the territory of camping, would be nice if they could mulch or hay around the fire pit so you don't get quite so muddy trying to cook dinner. Personally we like more nature trails than paved trails but overall a beautiful site.
Apr 20, 2024 · Sasha LoganThe campground is beautiful with many mature trees and clean shower houses, including laundry! Sites are all back in with electric only - fill up your water on the way in! IMPORTANT! Do not follow Google Maps or Waze directions! The entrance for the campground is off of MO RA. The entrance from Hwy 69 includes an old active RR track with a low 12’4” clearance!
May 20, 2025 · Donna BrasfieldNice place close to home, but don't appreciate camphosts, park rangers, and troopers constantly circling to find something to complain about. We follow the rules and are campers that are quiet and keep to ourselves. We camp to literally be left alone. We pulled in and stopped to remove sway bars before backing in. I observed that the camp host had already circled three- four times. Honestly, he looked like a grump. We set up and stayed inside(we do activities during the day and watch TV inside at night). Literally bothering no one. Slept in, walked dogs ON leashes despite having the fence we still use leashes. Also we always pick up after them. Then we left to kayak. Came back, dogs inside the camper were completely shaken and nervous. We have been weekenders since 2017 and travel all over. We wondered why they were upset, and then all of sudden, we were getting bothered every five minutes about our fence. Another state park had mentioned they were starting to crack down on fences, but as long as leashing was still maintained, we were fine. We also have a rabbit that utilizes the fence and eats grass. Our dogs or rabbit are never alone or bothering anyone. I monitor camper temp while we are gone via a sensor and everything. Inside when we are gone. I'm guessing they must have pounded on door several times while we were gone and freaked our dogs out. They were obsessive. They literally continued to circle, at least four staff, two hosts on golf carts, park truck, and law enforcement until the fence was down. Volunteering to be a camp host is something you do because ya enjoy it. Not because ya want to be an ahole rent-a-cop. Also we had issues kayaking once when we got out on land that was not the boat ramp(different trip). They are watching everyone constantly. No peace. Having the goal of living out of a camper one day makes me wonder how these hosts would feel if everyone drove by them every 15 minutes. But at least they volunteered for it to a degree. It's very annoying. I understand maintaining some order but they are too much.
