henderson campground
Hello, Arkansas adventurers! Are you dreaming of a tranquil escape where the shimmering waters of a pristine lake meet the rugged beauty of the Ozark Mountains? Then it's time to discover Henderson Park, a beloved campground nestled on the shores of Norfork Lake in Mountain Home, AR. This isn't just a place to pitch a tent or park your RV; it's a gateway to some of the best outdoor recreation our state has to offer, all wrapped in a serene and picturesque setting.
Henderson Park, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is a well-regarded destination for campers who appreciate natural beauty and direct access to water activities. As one satisfied camper noted, it's a "Great spot on the lake." Visitors consistently praise the park's clean facilities, with one review highlighting, "Bathrooms are always clean." While some online maps might not be perfectly accurate regarding site-specific amenities, a quick call ahead can help ensure you find the perfect spot with the hookups you need.
It's important to be aware that the park is on a take-out spot that sometimes experiences yearly flooding. However, this is part of the natural rhythm of the lake and doesn't diminish its charm as a "Beautiful spot to take out and see both bridges." Whether you're an avid angler, a boating enthusiast, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat with stunning lake views, Henderson Park provides a solid foundation for your Arkansas outdoor adventures.
Henderson Park is conveniently located at 324 W 7th St, Mountain Home, AR 72653, USA. This address places it directly on the clear waters of Norfork Lake, a jewel in the crown of the Arkansas Ozarks. Mountain Home, a vibrant city in Baxter County, serves as the perfect base camp for exploring the entire region, often lauded as a top destination for sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts.
The accessibility of Henderson Park is a significant advantage for campers from across Arkansas and beyond. From Mountain Home, you'll travel east on US Highway 62/412 for about 10 miles to the town of Henderson, then look for park signs to guide you to the entrance on your left. This straightforward drive ensures that your journey to relaxation is as smooth as possible. Being just over 10 miles from Mountain Home means campers have easy access to all the necessary amenities, including grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and medical facilities, ensuring a comfortable stay without feeling too isolated.
The park’s prime location on Norfork Lake provides immediate access to 22,000 acres of clear water and over 550 miles of shoreline. Densely wooded hills and hollows of the Ozark Mountains surround the lake, offering a picturesque backdrop for all your activities. Furthermore, Henderson Park is one of 19 developed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks lining Norfork Lake, providing ample opportunities for water sports. Hiking trails like the Robinson Point National Recreation Trail and David's Trail are also just a short drive away, broadening the scope of outdoor exploration available to visitors.
As a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground, Henderson Park typically operates under a standard fee structure set by the federal government. While specific, limited-time promotional offers like those seen at private campgrounds may not be common, there are often ways to receive discounts on camping fees. These typically include:
It is crucial to book campsites in advance, especially during peak season, as they can fill up quickly. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on fees, availability, and any potential discounts, we highly recommend checking the official Recreation.gov website for Henderson Park or contacting the park directly. Any cancellation policies, such as the $10 cancellation fee for cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date, would also be listed there.

Great spot on the lake, definitely call ahead to see which sites actually have electric and water available since the map is not right.
Jun 06, 2024 · Lori ParkerFavorite take-out spot. Go if you can. It won't last much longer due to yearly flooding. Beautiful spot to take out and see both bridges. Bathrooms are always clean.
Jul 17, 2024 · Nathan BooneMrs. Pam was very pleasant and accommodating. We stayed four days and 3 nights the water is high from all the rain made it even more enjoyable because we had waterfront sites. They don't have showers but we spent most of our time in the lake anyway so it wasn't too bad. I do wish the sites closer to the lake had more trees for a shade like the ones close to the bathroom and away from the water. Either way, we will be booking the same sites for next year because it was altogether a great setup they were close but roomy enough for two tents in the grassy area.

Jun 03, 2023 · Kevin YearwoodIt is set up like other Army Core, Campgrounds. Full hook ups, bath house. Good boat ramp with plenty of parking for trucks with trailers. The park is a peninsula.
